A Matter of Trust by Susan May Warren

These Montana Rescue installments are the meat and potatoes of my pleasure reading! Hold on for book 3, A Matter of Trust by Susan May Warren!

about the book

A Matter of Trust by Susan May WarrenChampion backcountry snowboarder Gage Watson has left the limelight behind after the death of one of his fans. After being sued for negligence and stripped of his sponsorships, he’s remade his life as a ski patrol in Montana’s rugged mountains, as well as serving on the PEAK Rescue team. But he can’t seem to find his footing–or forget the woman he loved, who betrayed him.

Senator and former attorney Ella Blair spends much of her time in the limelight as the second-youngest senator in the country. But she has a secret–one that cost Gage his career. More than anything, she wants to atone for her betrayal of him in the courtroom and find a way to help him put his career back on track.

When Ella’s brother goes missing on one of Glacier National Park’s most dangerous peaks, Gage and his team are called in for the rescue. But Gage isn’t so sure he wants to help the woman who destroyed his life. More, when she insists on joining the search, he’ll have to keep her safe while finding her reckless brother, a recipe for disaster when a snowstorm hits the mountain.

But old sparks relight as they search for the missing snowboarder–and suddenly, they are faced with emotions neither can deny. But when Ella’s secret is revealed, can they learn to trust each other–even when disaster happens again?

My Thoughts

The excitement and suspense and romance in this series are like gooey melted chocolate and peanut butter drizzled over rich vanilla frozen custard! A multilayered storyline and complex characters give this story an intensity and depth worthy of Glacier National Park’s impressive peaks.

quote from A Matter of Trust by Susan May Warren

Beneath the chill surfer dude façade, Gage Watson is plagued by past regrets and shame. In my opinion, he’s trying to atone for his thrill-seeking past by using his serious snowboarding skills to serve others, both as a member of ski patrol and PEAK SAR. Besides carrying a heap of guilt, formerly fun-loving Gage is also suffering from a broken heart.

Since their whirlwind romance and devastating courtroom encounter three years ago, Ella Blair has been praying for an opportunity to apologize and make amends. I admire Ella’s fierce protectiveness and determination. There are not many people who would drop everything, fly across the country, hunt down their younger brother, then chase them down a dangerous mountain! You go, Ella!

Y’all, I have never snowboarded, skateboarded, surfboarded… not once have I even had the slightest desire to attempt any sort of adrenaline pumping recreational activity… UNTIL THIS BOOK!!! Too bad about my bum knee, I’ll just have to stick to my bookish adventures 😉

Next up, BOATING!? Book 4 releases in January, check out the cover below!

I requested the opportunity to read this book through the publisher. The opinions expressed are my own.

  1. In my opinion, these books are too far apart!! Each book I’ve literally devoured. So now I must wait until January for Ian & Seirra’s story (finally, I hope!). Been on my pins and needles waiting. I am not a patient book series reader…lol!! 😉

Obviously, I’m not entering but I’ll share this post!

  2. I’ve loved the books I’ve read in this series so far. I’ve been to Glacier National Park a couple of times and absolutely LOVE it. The views are to die for! You really need to go, Beth, and while you’re at it, visit Yellowstone and Grand Teton, too! Three of my favorite places ever!

    1. Our first visit to Yellowstone was last year, loved it! We’re riding the train through Glacier NP this fall and Grand Tetons NP is definitely on the bucket list! This flat-lander is addicted to mountain views!

      1. You MUST stop and visit me if you go to the Tetons! They’re only 3 or 4 hours away, and the drive is lovely. I have extra bedrooms and you can see my awesome mountain valley!

  3. These books are just deliciousness wrapped up in words. While reading A Matter of Trust, I went back to Wild Montana Skies and Rescue Me just to re-re-live some of the epic scenes, particularly where Jess, Pete, and Ty are involved.
Sigh….now to wait until Troubled Waters releases….and maybe read the first three books for the second/third time….

  4. Yes, I have visited Glacier twice and want to return – and also spend a few days again at Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Beautiful, beautiful country and wonderful setting for her books, which I greatly enjoy.

  6. I just discovered some of Susan’s books at my local library and I have to say that I love them! Such amazing writing and stories. As for Glacier National Park, I’ve never been but would love to someday. I’ve been as far west as South Dakota and hope to venture further in the future.

  8. I have not spent much time in the western part of these great United States. I have family in Washington state so spent a bit of time there and in Oregon, but nowhere else.
As a child my family did take a cross-country road trip to visit that family in Washington. Let me visit to see Yellowstone on that trip.

I have the first book in this series, but have not read it yet. I’m looking forward to it though.
Can I just start with it or do I need to read something else first?
