meet our furbabies

Suzie was my faithful companion for five years. She is a West Highland White Terrier and a rescue. Suzie was both a farm dog and a diva. She loved to dig and nap and she will always hold a special place in my heart.

We miss her but are so thankful for the privilege of loving her.

Izzy in early 2019

Izzy joined our family in 2019. She is an English Springer Spaniel and we adopted her as a puppy from an AKC breeder. Her personality is affectionate and athletic. Izzy loves kisses, naps, and the outdoors.

Izzy is a big fan of lapdog life, road trips, and camping. She’s never met a person or critter that she doesn’t like and she’s always eager to explore. Izzy has saintlike patience and a laid-back attitude. Her favorite game is keep-away.

Maggie made us a two-dog family in 2023. She is a Golden Retriever and we adopted her as a puppy from a local Amish family. Her personality is playful and spunky.

Maggie loves to fetch and often collects toys or random articles of clothing. She is a special addition to our family for a couple of reasons. First, my husband’s first dog was a golden and this is his first case of puppy fever in over 20 years.

Secondly, we’ve been talking making the move to two dogs since before we lost Suzie and adopted Izzy. The transition has been much smoother than I expected due in large part to Izzy’s gentle patience and Maggie’s eager intelligence. These two keep us entertained, well-loved, and on our toes 24/7/365!

Enjoy the adventures of Izzy and Maggie on Instagram or Facebook! They make frequent appearances in stories, posts, and reels.

2019 swoof reads

So, what is “swoof”? Swoof is an acronym/hashtag for “Squeezing Words Out Of Feelings.” I coined this lovely word while chatting with some book blogger friends about the struggle we often face when we’re striving to craft a review worthy of whatever wonderful book we’ve just read… #allthefeels and #nowords just don’t cut it for reviews! Ask any reviewer and they’ve probably experienced something like #swoof

I request and receive complimentary books (ebooks, paperbacks, ARCs) from publishers, authors, and/or publicity groups. Regardless of how I obtain each title, I will provide my own honest opinion and I am not in any way required to present positive reviews.
