Reader Friends Appreciation update

Hello, reader friends! Just dropping a little mid-2019 update here and taking the opportunity to show my appreciation for all y’all with a fabulous reader giveaway (or two)!

on the blog

reader book stackIf you’re like me, your email inbox might be out of control but it is the best way to keep tabs on new posts here at Faithfully Bookish! AND since I completely sympathize with endless emails, you have the option to choose daily, weekly, or even monthly updates.

Sound good?! Click to subscribe (and take advantage of this month’s exclusive bonus reader giveaway, more about that later)! Be sure to add betherin[at]faithfullybookish.com (replace “[at]” with “@”) to your contacts, safe senders list, or whitelist so updates don’t end up in your spam folder.

It’s entirely possible that I’m the only one who notices these things but if not, let me know what y’all think about the recent additions to Faithfully Bookish’s color and font schemes! Do you like the Top Ten Tuesdays and First Line Fridays posts? Want more author interviews? Have you checked out the Bookish Bargains?

I want to hear all about what y’all most enjoy here, what you’d like to see more of, and where you’d like to see Faithfully Bookish grow.

on social media

At the beginning of the year, I decided to learn more and share more on the social media platform I was using the least, Instagram. Y’all showed up! Thank you so much for your encouragement and support! We have already surpassed the 1k followers mark! If you haven’t followed @faithfulbookish yet, please do! I’d love to connect with you there and on all your favorite social media platforms.

Regardless of which platform you prefer, there’s a constant battle through the algorithm jungle going on behind the scenes. Here are a few actions you can take to get more of what you want from your favorite accounts to actually show up in your feed:

  • visit an account you’re interested in and select follow
  • like (or heart) the account’s posts
  • leave post comments
  • share the account’s posts
  • tag the account in your own related posts
  • “like” the Facebook page (Facebook also allows users to adjust notification settings)
  • follow group boards on Pinterest (like Book Giveaway, Authors, or Book Reviews) which feature posts from multiple sources

As always, you can find Faithfully Bookish on your favorite social media platforms through the icons on the top or bottom bar of this site.

Christian Fiction Readers Retreat

Christian Fiction Readers RetreatWhile I absolutely loved being part of the CFRR leadership team, it was a lot of work (especially for our behind the scenes master of all nuts and bolts, Annie at @justcommonly). This event of our hearts has sparked numerous reader events all over the country and we love seeing Bonnie’s dream grow and live on.

Without CFRR (and mostly God’s divine grace), I may have never crossed paths with several wonderful authors and many fellow readers. Annie, Carrie (Reading Is My SuperPower), and Rachel (worship leader 2019 & Bookworm Mama) are now a few of my dearest friends and we dearly love one another and enjoy working together.

JustRead Publicity Tours

JustRead Publicity ToursY’all have seen JustRead tour stops and giveaways here and on my social media accounts since its launch over a year ago but you may have noticed an increase in the number of stops this spring and summer! Since March, I’ve been working as a virtual assistant for JustRead Publicity Tours.

It is a joy to not only support Christian fiction (and non-fiction) authors and publishers in a new way but I especially enjoy working with my dear friends, Carrie and Annie, founders of JustRead. If you’re an enthusiastic reader, we’d love for you to join as a host! There’s a tour for every reader… no blog or social media skills required but if you have them, we have tours for those too!

  1. Reading Fragments of Fear by Carrie Stuart Parks and it’s intensely good. I enjoy all of your posts across blog, FB and Instagram 🙂
As for giveaways, books excite me the most ?

  2. I always like finding out about new books and authors on your blog. I’m reading two YA books right now–Aurora Rising and Frankly in Love (an ARC for review). I’ve promised myself to read my first Becky Wade book this year. I always love my chances to win books!

  3. I love reading your blog, Beth! You’re a busy lady! You make me feel downright sluggish–maybe that’s because I am! LOL I just finished Just One Kiss by Courtney Walsh. It was fantastic! I’ve got A Glitter of Gold by Liz Johnson, Deadly Intentions by Lisa Harris, and A Reluctant Belle by Beth White coming up on my TBR pile (along with a bunch of other awesome looking books!)

  4. Oh my stars! I can’t believe I wasn’t subscribed already!!!! *hangs head in shame * I fixed that problem but seriously I’ve been missing out on all this literary goodness!

    1. Rachel, yay yay yay! Welcome aboard, sweet lady! There’ll be no shaming from me (unless you dog ear book pages, then I’m going to have to tisk tisk you but I’ll still love you)!

  5. I must be lazy because just reading how busy you are makes me tired 😉 I’m reading Underestimating Miss Cecilia by Caroline Miller right now for review purposes. I’ve gotta get in gear and get it done.

    1. You’re not lazy, Anne! I might be a little crazy but I do sleep good at night (and sometimes power nap in the afternoons)! Miss Cecilia is definitely on my wish list!

  6. I’ve been trying to make myself like Instagram as well since I know how popular it is, but I’ll admit I’m STILL working on liking it lol. I love your new fonts and color schemes by the way too! 🙂 I didn’t enter your giveaway since I was lucky enough to attend CFRR and came home with a bag of my own, but I just wanted to say how much I appreciate all that you lovely ladies did to put it all together! It was nothing short of amazing <3

    1. I haven’t quite made it to the liking Instagram stage yet either. I like creating the pictures but haven’t gotten that people connection down yet and I drop the stories ball more often than I run with it.
Thank you for your sweet words about CFRR! It was wonderful to meet you in person, Becca! I completely agree, it was amazing for us too!

      1. I’m definitely excited about 2020 and St. Louis is in my neck of the woods instead of twelve hours away!

  7. I’m currently reading Castle on the Rise! My favorite giveaways include gift cards to bookish places…and books themselves! ?

  8. I currently reading The Heart of a Vicar by Sarah Eden and Kira, Kira by Cynthia Kadohata.

  9. I like reading your author interviews. It’s always fun learning the “behind the scenes” research & goodies that create the adventure. I’m reading my first Connilyn Cossette book…and it’s so hard to put it down. WOW!! ?

    1. Thanks for the feedback, Becky! I’m so delighted to hear that you’re enjoying Connilyn’s work for the first time! Happy reading!

  10. Thanks for the generous giveaway! Hope all are print books as that’s all I can read.

  11. I am reading A Reluctant Bride by Jody Hedlund. I love your book reviews Beth and discovering new authors on your blog. In my TBR pile for the summer is The Hope of Azure Springs by Rachel Fordham and Wooing Cadie McCaffrey by Bethany Turner. I love book giveaways.

  12. Love you, Beth!! I went to a one-day Serious Writer conference in June and learned SO MUCH about Instagram (and Twitter and Facebook). It was eye opening. I mean, who knew that you aren’t considered engaging on IG unless you both like AND comment on a post and your comment is shorter than 4 words long (not including emojis).

Love all that you’ve got going on and I know that you are a huge blessing to Annie and Carrie and JustRead!! I miss seeing your smiling face (but maybe you’ll be back in Nashville in November?!?!).

    1. Love you, too! Thanks for sharing the Instagram tip, I feel like I still have a lot to learn! Yes, Lord willing, I’ll be going back to Nashville! I look forward to seeing you, Suzie!

  13. Lulu’s Cafe is next on my reading list! Right now I’m reading Hurricane Season by Lauren K. Denton.

  14. I am reading The Seamstress by Allison Pittman right now, not sure what’s up next. Maybe Between Two Shores by Jocelyn Green. Historical fiction is my favorite genre!

It would be great fun to attend a readers retreat, a swag bag might be the next best thing!

    1. I need to read one of Allison’s books! Between Two Shores is wonderful! Historical fiction is also one of my favorites, I call it my first love genre! I hope you have an opportunity to attend a reader event in the future!

  15. Hi! 😀
I am reading On a Summer Tide by Suzanne Woods Fisher.
I love what you are doing. 🙂
Ummm..bookish items? A prize pack related to the story are my faves. 🙂

  16. I love anything with suspense and (((try))) to keep up with as many new releases as possible! I have also learned that suspense can be found in almost every genre, so my TBR will only keep growing! LOL

    1. All good stories have conflict, there’s no doubt about that! Keeping up with those new releases is no joke! Happy reading, Susanne!

  17. Thanks for offering the great giveaway!

I’ve started reading series together so I’ve been saving. I’ve got Robin Lee Hatcher, Karen Witemeyer, and Lynette Eason. Susan Page Davis also just sent me Mail-Order Mishaps. First, though, I got The Cowboys yesterday to read for Linda Yezak.

  18. Im reading a Love Inspired Suspense book called Killer Country Reunion by Jenna Night. I really like suspense books but historical is my favorite. I need to find a Christian author who writes historical/suspense.
I have been following your blog and I truly enjoy reading it.

    1. I’m enjoying more suspense lately! I’d recommend the True Colors series from Barbour and Abigail Wilson for historical suspense. Thank you for being a Faithfully Bookish reader friend, Pam!

  19. I’m glad there is no one here to see me drool over the thoughts of this giveaway!
I am reading Jan Karon’s book “Bathed in Prayer” and love it!

    Thank you,
    Janice Moore

  20. Currently I’m reading MORE THAN WORDS CAN SAY by Karen Witmeyer. I love just about any sort of Christian book from Amish, cozy mystery to romance. I’m always super excited to get copies of books. I know most folks read with kindle or such, but guess I’m old school because I still love to hold my books. 🙂

Super excited about the opportunity to win the 2019 Christian Fiction Readers Retreat swag bag! Just look at all those book and wonderful items surrounding them! I would also be thrilled to win a subscribers book as well. Remember I love books. 🙂

Thank you for this marvelous chance and just keep doing what you do so well!

  21. You’re really participating in a lot in this community! I have so many books to look forward to, it’s hard to keep up! Next up on my list is The Killing Tide by Dani Pettrey. My favorite thing to win is books, gift cards to buy books, bookish tote bags or zippered pouches. Keep up the great work with your awesome site!

  22. “Let me know what you’re reading, what you’re liking (or want more of) on Faithfully Bookish, and what books you’re looking forward to reading in the future! What kinds of bookish items get y’all excited about a reader giveaway?” I’ve just started reading a fantasy trilogy by Cornelia Funke, the Inkheart Trilogy. It promises to be good!

  23. You definitely are busy Beth, but we appreciate all your hard work. My email is crazy too, so I love the options. It has been fun seeing you on Instagram! I am reading The Heart of a Vicar, and am looking forward to Susan May Warren’s Tate when I can get my hands on it. I enjoy all the interviews and givaways, especially for books, Amazon gift cards, and book cozies.

    1. Thanks so much, Laura! Tate is taunting me from the tbr shelf so I feel your anticipation! You know, I didn’t think I would like/use/need book cozies but now that I have one, I love it!
