Tonight was no ordinary night, not for Amy Deerson, at least.

my thoughts

Here’s a fun little tidbit about Amy, she’s a quilter! Which reminds me (hang on for an unrelated side note), I’m way behind on my auntie quilting list! One little sweetheart is celebrating a second birthday today and still waiting on a baby quilt from Aunt Bethy. There’s one more tike on deck and another joining the team this fall! I might have to dip into my book fund to produce all that fabric! (and back to swoofness…)

Amy is especially relatable to me because of her small-town roots. Her determination has helped her become a thriving businesswoman in charming Sweet Dreams, Wyoming despite the unexpected detour of her dreams. Amy has pulled herself up by the bootstraps and moved on (or so she tells herself). Although she’s still single, I can’t help but love her eager-to-blossom mama heart.

Nash is such a sweet underdog hero. He’s willing to move heaven and earth to protect a couple of special gals no matter how much it costs his big ‘ol broken heart. Nash’s closest friends and stand-in mother figure form an endearing rag-tag family. I love the unique plot and the intimate small-town atmosphere!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions expressed are my own.

  1. Reunited With The Bull Fighter has been on my TBR list. I must get to it!

My First Line Friday is from Connilyn Cossette’s A Light On The Hill, book 1 from the Cities of Refuge series, and my first Biblical Fiction read:

    1406 BC

The priest’s kohl-lined eyes glazed over as he held the iron brand in the center of cedar-fueled flames.

      1. Sure will, Beth. It’s because of your review of the Cities of Refuge series that I knew I had to read it, starting with book #1! I’m half-way finished, I can’t put it down.

  2. Happy Friday! On my blog, I’m sharing Lord of Her Heart by Sherrinda Kerchersid, which I absolutely loved. Here I will share the first line from chapter 8 in my current read, A Promised Land by Kimberly Grist. “Meriwether’s mouth watered as she pulled the iron skillet from the woodburning stove.” Have a wonderful weekend!

  3. Happy Friday! My first line is from “Brett, Billionaire Bodyguard” by Autumn Macarthur & Alexa Verde:

“Brett Jarvis grimaced, yawned, and snatched up his ringing cell phone. Two a.m. phone calls rarely meant good news, especially in his business.”

  4. I am a huge fan of Love Inspired books! 🙂

I’m currently reading The Healing Jar by Wanda E. Brunstetter. I’m on chapter 19 so I’ll share the first line of that chapter. “Sara had just finished waiting on a customer when Brad came into the shop, wide-eyed and with deep furrows lining his forehead.”

  5. Happy Friday!
On my blog today I’m sharing the first few lines from A Glitter of Gold by Liz Johnson but I’m currently reading Whose Waves These Are by Amanda Dykes so I’ll share the first line from chapter 24 here: “Bess’s words travel with Annie down to the landing.” This book is soo good so far! Hope you have a great weekend!

  6. An intriguing opening line!

I’m sharing on my blog the first line from Love and Other Mistakes by Jessica Kate.

Natalie Groves eyed the bag of Gingerbread M&M’s on the other side of the office meeting room and prayed for a divine intervention of Red Sea proportions.

  7. The closest book to hand is The Killing Tide by Dani Pettrey — Fire ripped through Finn’s right shoulder, ricocheting down his arm.

    Have a wonderful weekend!
