Happy Friday, reader friends! Has everyone adjusted to the time change? I don’t think I’m quite there yet but I have been going to bed and getting up earlier… except Thursday night because two FLF posts snuck up on me.
I’m actually still playing catch-up from being sick last week (what can I say? I’m bookishly ambitious and Trello can’t stop me). Believe it or not, blogging isn’t the only thing that gets behind when I’m down… laundry, kids’ lessons, and budgeting suffer… plus the general dropping of everything all over everywhere in our home goes unchecked.
????
Just kidding (mostly), my husband is honestly a better cook than I am and he even pitches in with the cleaning on occasion plus my kids are old enough to complete their chores (with enough sweet reminders) and cook simple meals on their own so I’m pretty much working myself out of a job (which I’m pretty sure is one of the main goals of motherhood).

Hope you are 100% soon! My blog is featuring An Irishwoman’s Tale by Patti Lacy. But here I will share from a book on my Spring TBR list, Hurricane Season by Lauren K. Denton. “She usually stayed in bed until at least six, but this morning she was restless, like animals get when the barometric pressure drops before a storm.”

My First Line Fridays comes from a book I’m hoping to get to soon, Between Friends by Debbie Macomber.
Dearest Momma,
I thought you should know Mike and I had a baby girl on September first. I realize Daddy said I wasn’t to contact either of you ever again, but I felt you’d want to know you had a granddaughter.
Have a great weekend and happy reading!????????????

Being sick sure isn’t fun. Glad to know you are on the feeling better side. Isn’t it grand when you have loved ones you can depend on to carry the slack when we are down. ❤

Margaretta had used the word DESPERATE many times in her life, but she’d never truly known the meaning until she stood in the open door of a mail coach, clutching an eight-month-old letter and praying that someone in this minuscule market town would know where the writer had gone when she moved on.

Wishing you a productive weekend for all those things that got behind!
Can you believe I haven’t yet read a Julie Lessman book? Crazy, right? But I’ll get one into my schedule one of these days!
Here’s what I’m currently reading:
Brandi’s head throbbed. The hateful words still sizzled in her ears as the front door brushed open. (Finding Evergreen by Jennifer Rodewald)

Though I’m sharing a book with an Irish hero, The Promise of Breeze Hill by Pam Hillman, on my blog today, here’s the first line of an audiobook I’ve borrowed from the library on a friend’s recommendation, The Bookshop on the Corner (or, in the UK, The Little Shop of Happily Ever After) by Jenny Colgan:
“The problem with good things that happen is that very often they disguise themselves as awful things.”

Eleanor and I are still not adjusted either! And I had spring break all this week, but still had to get up early to take her to school – her spring break is not for another nine days. Happy Friday!

Happy Friday Beth! Glad you are on the mend and I hope you feel completely well soon.
I don’t like the time changes. It takes me a while to get used to the “new” time all over again.
My first line is from a book I received in the mail today….The Pirate Bride by Kathleen Y’Barbo.
