Prone to wander, Janine Rosche finds as much comfort on the open road as she does at home. This longing to chase adventure, behold splendor, and experience redemption is woven into her Madison River Romance series.

When she isn’t writing or traveling, she teaches family life education courses to college students, takes too many pictures of her sleeping dogs, and embarrasses her four children and husband with boy band serenades.

Share five of your favorites.

J: Favorite indoor activity – Watching classic movies

Favorite movie – Classic, It’s a Wonderful Life. Contemporary, Return to Me

Favorite song – Meet Me in Montana by Dan Seals and Marie Osmond

Favorite place to visit – The Madison River is an obvious answer, but I also love Gettysburg

Favorite mode of vacationing – Road Trip!

B: Return to Me is a great movie! The Madison River and Gettysburg are both on my bucket list and I LOVE road trips!

Describe Glory Falls in five words.

J: Glory falls on the brokenhearted.

B: Oh gracious, you’re going to trigger my waterworks again.

Share your inspiration behind Glory Falls.

J: “Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.” A piece of my heart has always been with the great guy who loses the girl to the hero. (ie. Patrick Dempsey in Sweet Home Alabama, Dawson Leery in Dawson’s Creek, James Marsden in almost every movie he’s been in).

And if that doesn’t describe Thomas Beck… I knew he was handsome, kind, and humble from the first two books he’d appeared in, and yet, something kept him from his own happily ever after. Maybe, just maybe, he couldn’t give his heart fully to anyone because he’d already given it to someone in the past.

B: I love Thomas so much! I’m so glad you shared his story with us! And Sweet Home Alabama is one of my favorite movies.

What are some of the challenges you faced while writing Glory Falls?

J: In addition to being handsome, kind, and humble, Thomas is socially awkward, emotionally stoic, and very quiet. After writing flirty Robbie and affectionate Shane, I knew it would be a challenge to make readers fall for Thomas.

My solution was inner dialogue, a sweet dog with a listening ear, and star-gazing talks in NSYNC sleeping bags. Talk about swoony!

B: I adore the quiet heroes. As a matter of fact, I married one!

What did you learn or discover about yourself while writing Glory Falls?

J: Cecilia “Blue” Walker shares many aspects of my personality. She’s spunky and fun-loving, but she also tempers her sadness with a smile so she doesn’t drive people away—something she learned the hard way when she lost her husband while mourning her daughter’s death.

I didn’t realize just how much I do the exact same thing especially when my depression worsens. In a way, it was healing for me to help Blue work through that. I can now appreciate those in my life who allow me to feel true feelings and don’t run away—like what Thomas does for Blue.

B: I’m sending you a giant hug right now.

What is your next release and/or what are you working on now?

J: Aspen Crossroads releases September 14th. It is the first book in the Whisper Canyon series, and it follows one of the characters in Glory Falls from Montana to the Colorado Rockies. It’s another story of redemption, forgiveness, and love that endures even the hardest circumstances.

B: Eeeep! I’m so glad you did that! Preorder available, reader friends! Thank you so much for taking the time to visit with us, Janine!

about the book

Glory Falls by Janine Rosche (Madison River Romance book 3)

Glory Falls by Janine Rosche

Publisher: Berkley Books
Genre: Christian Contemporary Romance
Release Date: January 12, 2021

Two people scarred by past trauma have a chance to write a new chapter in their lives, overcome loss, and find love in the third entry in the Madison River Romance series.

Screenwriter Cecilia “Blue” Walker is victim to life’s worst plot twists. Having lost her daughter to the depths of the Madison River and her husband to the arms of another woman, she finds herself yearning for something to restore her brittle faith and once-vibrant career.

Hope arrives in the form of her childhood friend, Thomas Beck, a firefighter with a legacy of larger-than-life rescues who doesn’t see himself as a hero. Haunted by his past, Thomas only agrees to a movie adaptation of his story if Blue, his longtime crush, is the screenwriter.

However, as Blue and Thomas work together to bring his heroism to the big screen, the glitz and glamour of Hollywood threaten to shed light on secrets that could tear their fragile relationship and their lives apart.

my thoughts

Tall, dark, and handsome heroes tend to steal the spotlight but give me a strong, silent type any day (technically, I have one every day because that descriptor fits my husband to a tee)! The thing about strong, silent heroes is that their humor, depth, compassion, etc., is constantly surprising the blessed few who make it past their stoic walls.

As one of these coveted strong, silent heroes, Thomas is also an excellent candidate for a friends-to-more romance (you can trust me on that one, I also have personal experience in that particular arena). I love the way he truly observes people and serves them all in big and small ways. Thomas is a giver, protector, and servant to his core. Blue’s story broke my mama-heart time and again. Yet page after page, I couldn’t tear my eyes from her grief in anticipation of her first step towards healing.

Rosche unapologetically directs her characters and readers to the One true source of comfort, joy, and love. Her vivid descriptions of the scenic Madison River Valley inspired me to add it to the top of my “places to visit” list. This heartfelt story of second chances is going on my keeper shelf and I highly recommend it!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review.
