q&a

What is your favorite activity or hobby not related to books?

T: Is there such a thing? Lol, jk. I like to watch TV. Usually, I’m watching some HGTV show, a chick flick, or a law show like The Rookie. Oh! And I also play video games with my family. We’re an XBOX fam and sometimes we’ll play on our retro Nintendo.

B: I’ll have to hit you up for some XBOX recommendations. We’re still newbies and all I really want is Tetris, Dr. Mario, and Mario Kart. I’m so old school.

Do you have a favorite bookish habit?

T: My favorite one is collecting bookish t-shirts. I honestly have lost count on how many I own. I have one that says Just One More Chapter, My Weekend is All Booked, Readers Gonna Read, and more! Now that I’m talking about it, I should probably buy another one. 🙂

B: I haven’t fallen down that particular rabbit hole yet but I figure it’s just a matter of time.

What is your reading style?

T: I currently read on my smartphone because my Kindle started dying. So I’m either reading on a Kindle app, Nook one, or Hoopla (thank you library!).

B: Nooooo, Kindle! I’m so sorry for your loss.

What’s your writing style?

T: I enjoy pantsing my way through a story. If I know how it’s going to end, it takes the fun out of writing and makes it that much more difficult to finish the story.

B: I feel the same way about reading a story! I don’t want to know what it’s about before I start. No spoilers, no synopsis… just the story, thank you!

Do you have any writing quirks?

T: I don’t think so, although sometimes I resemble a mummy when writing. I’ll have on fuzzy socks, my lower half wrapped in a blanket, and sometimes I wear a really fuzzy sweater if I don’t already have on long sleeves. And depending on how cold it really is, I may even have on a hoodie and some fingerless gloves. What can I say? I get cold easily.

B: Hey, me too! Fingerless gloves and a heated blanket were my favorite Christmas presents this year! Thank you so much for taking the time to visit with us, Toni!

my thoughts

Y’all know I pretty much adore all of Toni Shiloh’s stories but this one set my expectations for a level-up reading experience… then proceeded to blow those expectations through the roof!

First of all, friends-to-more romance and marriage of convenience are probably my top two favorite tropes. Throw them together in a contemporary setting with two adorable little cutie-pies on the cover and you better believe I’m expecting seriously great things!

I love this story so much… I’m even getting teary-eyed just thinking about how much I love this story! Trinity and Omar’s dedication, devotion, and determination create a modern-day marriage of convenience plot that is easy to believe in. Those adorable little girls are the perfect balance of sassy and sweet.

The plot, characters, and heart of An Unlikely Proposal are extra wonderful and genuinely delightful. I highly recommend this book!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. I also purchased a print copy for my favorites shelf. Additionally, as a co-owner of JustRead Publicity Tours, LLC, I received compensation from the publisher and/or author to coordinate a promotional tour for this title. The opinions expressed are my own.

in the craziness of 2020, I didn’t get a review posted for The Price of Dreams but I highly recommend all three of these stories!

  4. I enjoyed the interview, but now every time I see a Toni Shiloh book, I will think of her wearing multiple layers of fuzziness and fingerless gloves…Well, at least in the cold weather months. LOL An Unlikely Proposal sounds like a wonderful read.
