I have a love/hate relationship with Colleen Coble’s thrillers. I love reading them, and I hate having to leave them for mundane and unimportant things like work and family. I’ve read this, and it was excellent – the suspense started with that first line and never let up.
I’m sharing from Hold the Light by April McGowan over on my blog today, and I’ve just started reading what I’m told is an excellent writing craft book, Understanding Show, Don’t Tell by Janice Hardy. It starts well:
Show, don’t tell is one of the most frustrating pieces of writing advice out there.
I’m looking forward to understanding it better!

What a beginning!
I’m featuring the first line from J. Rodes’ “Charging the Darkness” on my blog today–great conclusion to her dystopian trilogy–but right now I’m going to share the opening of Rachel Dylan’s recent release, “Deadly Proof”:

“The Black Tower of Dunnoch.” This first line is from “The Master of Blacktower,” by Barbara Michaels. It was published in 1966. This author is new to me. I found her book in a stack of used books at a gift shop I was visiting. It looked interesting so, I bought it. It’s good. 🙂

I love the Rock Harbor series and Colleen Coble’s books! I agree with Iola, there is one “problem” with her books, it is hard to put them down to do “needful things” like chores around the house or going to bed, sigh.

I loved that book! Colleen Coble is one of my favorites as well. I also love to listen to audiobooks by her. Especially the ones narrated by Devon O’Day. She has an excellent voice that draws me in to the book.
My first line is from the Chronicles of the Kings series, Among the Gods by Lynn Austin (bk 5).I’m finally making my way through this series. ????

Beneath Copper Falls is on my must-read list (if I ever get around to it)! I first discovered Colleen’s writing with her Rock Harbor mystery series & was excited to see her go back with this book. I have SO much catching up to do!
My first line is from my much anticipated review copy of An Inconvenient Beauty by Kristi Ann Hunter (which I just received yesterday):
