Hello, reader friends! Y’all know I don’t usually slow down for nonfiction of any kind but Everything You Need to Know about Homeschooling by Lee Ann Garfias was calling my name!

Since our nation (and the world) mostly shut down in 2020, I cannot imagine the stress and strain public and private school teachers, students, and their families have experienced through being suddenly forced into distance-learning or transitioning back to classrooms with restrictions and sporadic closures. As a long-time homeschool mom, I volunteered to review this book with those children and parents (or caregivers) in mind.

To say Everything You Need to Know about Homeschooling exceeded my expectations would be a huge understatement. In my opinion and experience, one of the most wonderful things about homeschooling is also one of the most challenging: flexibility. It’s wonderful when applied to scheduling, course of study, and curriculum. Not so much when juggling multiple children’s minds and hearts stretches mama’s ability to flex to the limit.

Everything You Need to Know About Homeschooling covers all the practical and technical aspects of homeschooling as well as mindset, spiritual, and heart issues. Whether your family is new to homeschooling, longtime veterans like us, or just testing the waters, wouldn’t it be nice to have a one-stop instruction manual? This guide is truly comprehensive and a priceless tool to equip parents/grandparents/grown-ups/teachers for a successful homeschool journey.

My fellow homeschooling veterans can confirm that every year, month, and week might be different. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to homeschooling and that’s the beauty of it. Homeschooling is a customized learning method and while it can be overwhelming at times, the benefits far outweigh any and all sacrifices. Everything You Need to Know about Homeschooling is a book I will reach for time and again over the next several years and I highly recommend it!
