Finally Accepted by Toni Shiloh

Today, we welcome back our author friend, Toni Shiloh, and her newest release, Finally Accepted the third installment of the Freedom Lake series.

about the book

Finally Accepted by Toni Shiloh (Freedom Lake book 3)

There’s only one thing Chloe Smith has ever wanted: family. Yet the DNA results she’s received have thrown her life into a tailspin. Her utmost desire has ended up being the catalyst for shaking her faith. She doesn’t even know who she is anymore, and she’s certainly too messed up for her longtime crush to give her more than a second glance.

Darryl Jones is struggling between his past and the grace God so freely offers. His sins feel too big for him to handle, let alone expect the woman of his dreams to accept. Chloe is the only woman he’s ever wanted and the one he doesn’t deserve.

As they form a tentative relationship and examine their faith, Chloe and Darryl ache to know they are finally accepted and fully loved.

my thoughts

Finally Accepted could have taken the road well-traveled and Hallmarked its way to happily ever after (nothing wrong with that, lots of folks like the sweet fluff) but instead, Toni Shiloh gives us more (and that’s what I like!) This story has substance, grit, and raw honesty. There are conflict and crisis, doubt and defiance, and both fledgling and faltering faith threads.

Chloe and Darryl are the kind of couple readers love to root for. They are loyal, kind, and generally quiet people who are obviously attracted to one another yet hesitant to rock the boat. Shiloh shapes each character with authentic complexities, secrets, and flaws. Darryl and Chloe examine the depths of their cultural, familial, and spiritual identities while longing for acceptance and love.

This book was an exercise in empathy for me. I couldn’t imagine the emotional turmoil folks in abandonment situations might experience but the opportunity to step into their shoes through the story opened my eyes to possibilities. The Freedom Lake series is a gust of fresh air in my reading lineup, boldly faith-filled and genuine. Well done, Ms. Shiloh, and thank you.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions expressed are my own.

  1. Thank you so much for the review! I’m so glad you enjoyed Chloe and Darryl’s story. And I did take a DNA test. I think I was pretty much surprised by everything, lol.
