about the book

Can a song be deadly?

If Spring Comes by Amy Leigh SimpsonSt. Louis’s new lead medical examiner Dr. Candice Stevens knows the best way to atone for the blood on her hands is to silence a murderer before he strikes again. A moment of brilliance and a stroke of luck lands her evidence that could bring down a prolific serial killer. But a split-second decision propels her into a high-stakes ruse of cat and mouse that endangers something she guards more than her very life.

Fighting a career-ending injury, FBI agent Dorian “Sal” Salivas will do whatever it takes to reclaim his badge and avoid slipping back into his old life as a con-artist. When he suspects there is a leak in the FBI, and catches the gorgeous medical examiner stealing evidence, Sal realizes playing one last con might be the only way to catch their city’s notorious serial killer. Hot on the trail of the killer’s deadly serenade, lines start to blur and even love begins to bloom. But if Sal’s clever lies manage to keep them alive, will they kill any hope of capturing Candice’s heart for keeps?

With a killer working on the inside and their hearts mere pawns in a twisted game, they’ll need to figure out who they can trust before the swan song becomes their own.

my thoughts

If Spring Comes captivates with heart-pounding attraction, spine-tingling suspense, and a breathtaking pursuit of justice and hope. The highly-anticipated third installment of The Girl Next Door series, this story was well worth the wait! If Spring Comes is packed with engaging tension and conflict and founded on authenticity, integrity, and faith.

Candice Stevens is a brilliant, no-nonsense, professional woman who is determined to thwart a heinous serial killer before he claims another life. Candice is a fiercely independent firecracker in a deceivingly dainty package (girl can eat!). She has no patience for men, especially smooth talkers who compliment her pretty face and attractive figure. Candice has grit and grace, both great characteristics to possess!

Dorian “Sal” Salivas is still recovering from extensive injuries he sustained in the line of duty but he is chomping at the bit to resume his field agent duties. When he lands a special assignment that brings his path crashing into the object of his patient, persistent, and affectionate attraction, sparks fly! I love the way he woos her! Sal and Candice both have pasts they’d rather forget but they press on… towards a terrifying target.

Brace yourselves for occasionally intense steamy yet chaste temptations and unpredictable, nail-biting suspense! While this story can stand on its own, I encourage you to pick up the first two installments of The Girl Next Door series as well! Sal and Candice are endearing and intriguing in those supporting roles! I highly recommend all three books for reader friends who embrace gritty, faith-filled fiction, danger, and spice!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions expressed are my own.

If Spring Comes by Amy Leigh Simpson quote graphic + review on Faithfully Bookish

*Confession, I’ve honestly had a difficult time with this swoof! The scope and intensity of emotion this story evokes filled my reader heart with contented satisfaction yet scattered my ability to express such with words. I had the privilege of reading this book for endorsement and it took me days to write that one sentence (we won’t discuss how long I’ve had a book hangover and been unable to provide y’all with a worthy swoof)!*

about the author

Amy Leigh SimpsonAmy Leigh Simpson writes romantic mysteries with honesty and humor, sweetness and spice, and gritty reality covered by grace. When she’s not stealing moments at naptime to squeeze out a few more adventures in storyland, she’s chasing around two tow-headed miscreants (Ahem)—boys, playing dress up with one sweet princess baby, and being the very blessed wife to the coolest, most swoon-worthy man alive.

Amy is a Midwestern-girl, a singer, blogger, runner, coffee-addict, and foodie. Her Sports Medicine degree is wasted patching up daily boo boo’s, but whatever is left usually finds its way onto the page with fluttering hearts, blood and guts, and scars that lead to happily ever after.

Amy would be delighted to connect with you on Facebook where she shares amusing mommy anecdotes, recipes, and everyday life and writing blunders, or at The Writer’s Alley for writing tips, inspiration, and fiction fun.
