Lone Witness by Rachel Dylan

The more I read romantic suspense, the more I like it! Here’s the second installment of the Atlanta Justice series, Lone Witness by Rachel Dylan!

about the book

Prosecutor Sophie Dawson’s first job in the White Collar division of the Fulton County D.A.’s office is to build a case against a local bank employee who may be cheating clients. But when circumstances beyond her control leave her as the only witness to a double homicide involving a vengeful gang, her world is turned upside down.

Former Atlanta police officer turned private security guard Cooper Knight is hired to ensure that Sophie is kept safe. But as threats escalate, they don’t know who they can trust.

Sophie is determined not to back down, but her bank case gets more complicated by the day, and the gang will stop at nothing to keep her from testifying. Sophie wants to take a stand for what’s right–but can Cooper, who is determined not to be distracted by their growing attraction, keep her safe so that she can finish her pursuit for justice?

my thoughts

Sophie Dawson is one tough cookie! Despite her perilous position as the sole witness of a gang-related double homicide, Sophie continues to work tenaciously on building her other assigned case in the white collar division. Go, girl! Even when things heat up, Sophie’s foundational faith and compassion for others are her motivation and comfort.

Cooper Knight is fully committed to his current task of keeping Sophie safe in every possible way, including protecting her heart from the growing attraction between them. I’m always fascinated by potentially romantic couples involving some kind of security role. Cooper has plans for his life and romantic relationships are not included.

Courage is not the absence of fear but the power to act in the presence of fear… in my opinion, Sophie and Cooper are truly courageous! This story is intriguing and action-packed and even when life interrupted and I had to set the book down, I found myself thinking about the story and characters. I highly recommend this engaging series and eagerly anticipate the release of book three!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions expressed are my own.
