Here we are, y’all!!! I had so much fun last week with our Blogiversary: One Year Celebration post and that is thanks in large part to today’s featured blogger. I always get a little extra excited when we try something new here on Faithfully Bookish but I’m just beside myself over these book blogger spotlights!
About the Blogger
Carrie Schmidt is an avid reader, book reviewer, story addict, KissingBooks fan, book boyfriend collector, and cool aunt. She loves Jesus and THE Story a whole lot.
Carrie lives in Kentucky with her husband Eric and their quirky dog Zuzu and is a co-founder of the Christian Fiction Readers’ Retreat.

Beth: Suzie sends her love to her internet pal Zuzu! ????
Five Favorite Book Boyfriends
Carrie: It’s not really a secret that I collect book boyfriends. I justify the collection by the fact that these are fictional characters, but I do still try not to have more than one per author.
Granted this list is merely a drop in the bucket, but a swoonilicious drop it is! (in no particular order)
#myJames (Five Days in Skye by Carla Laureano) – Okay, so technically his name is James MacDonald but why quibble over tedious details. Everyone knows this playful, flirty, smoldering Scottish chef who looks suspiciously like Henry Cavill is #myJames.
They may try to argue but it rarely does them any good ????
Beth: I regret that I have yet to meet your James, Carrie!
Ty Porter (Meant to be Mine by Becky Wade) – Ty has that flirty bad boy (redeemed) vibe going on and is just as swoony being a dad as he is being in love. I’m not ashamed to admit that I giggled like a besotted schoolgirl when he showed up in other books besides his own in Becky Wade’s Porter Family series.
Beth: I’ve just read one of the Porter Family books at this time but Ty definitely has the bad boy vibes.
Vance Everstone (The Cautious Maiden by Dawn Crandall) – Be still my heart. I didn’t even like Vance when he first showed up in Dawn Crandall’s Everstone Chronicles. But boy howdy did he redeem himself by the time his story rolled around.
Well, rather God redeemed him. His commitment to purity – with no loss of passion – will deliciously curl your toes.
Beth: I don’t think anyone liked Vance (except Vance) in the earlier books. Here are my thoughts on The Cautious Maiden.
Charlie Lionheart (The Lady and the Lionheart by Joanne Bischof) – Charlie Lionheart has my heart. This man. I can’t even fully explain how swoony he is until you’ve read the book – and even then, my descriptions hardly do him justice.
But trust me – he will capture your heart too and linger with you long after you’ve finished reading his story. He is an exquisite picture of Jesus as well as a very romantic hero in his own right.
Beth: Agreed!!! I need to buy a paperback so I can read this one again (and again and again)! Plus I owe my readers a review… ????
August Reinhold (The Thorn Healer by Pepper Basham) – Like Charlie, August is a reflection of Jesus in human hero form. His steady love, even when rejected, made me teary more times than I can count. But he also has a flirty side that is just delightful.
And you’ll never look at lawn tennis the same way again, I can guarantee it!
Beth: Patient, hard-working, and great with kids, too! My review of The Thorn Healer.
All excellent choices, Carrie! My favorite hero is Reece Mitchell (A Twist of Faith by Pepper Basham) so I’m a little glad he’s not on your list… you are a teeny bit possessive there with Mr. MacDonald! ????
Book Blog
Tell us a little bit about your book blog and one of your favorite features
Carrie: I review mostly Christian fiction, and one thing I’ve really enjoyed doing in the past year and a half especially is participating in the Top Ten Tuesday blog linkup. It gives me a chance to spotlight Christian fiction to an audience that otherwise may never encounter it.
And … it doesn’t hurt that it also lets me talk about my fave kissing scenes and hunky heroes ????
Beth: I love what you do with your Top Ten Tuesday posts!!!
Tell us a little bit about your blogging journey and who inspired you
Carrie: Reading Is My SuperPower was born two years ago, and it really began out of a love of books and a need for people to talk to about them LOL.
I had been following Relz Reviewz and Books & Beverages for a couple of years before that, so I call them my blogging heroes. Observing and soaking in what they did and how they did it really helped me shape what I wanted my blog to be for people.
Beth: Happy Second Blogiversary to you, dear Carrie! Both are excellent book blogs!
What do you hope to accomplish through your blog?
Carrie: My tagline is “introducing you to your next great read” and that’s really my passion. I love helping readers meet new-to-them authors – and vice versa – through the books and interviews and giveaways that I feature.
And if we can have fun doing that? All the better!! I hope and pray that as people hang out at my blog, they see Jesus and His love in me. That’s my ultimate goal.
Beth: A worthy goal indeed! Your blog is tons of fun and you are the queen book pusher in the very best way!
Carrie: Beth!!! Congratulations on your first anniversary! You have taken this blogging thing by storm, and I am so honored to be your friend. Your wit, your heart, and your love for books and Jesus shines in everything you do on Faithfully Bookish.
Beth: I’m delighted to have you here, Carrie!!! Your friendship is precious to me!
Y’all join me in wishing Carrie a very happy SECOND Blogiversary and show Reading Is My SuperPower some love!
Happy blog anniversary!!
