Meet the Mitchell family in the first of a new contemporary romance series set in the beautiful Appalachians. Here’s my review of A Twist of Faith by Pepper Basham!
about the book
A Twist of Faith by Pepper Basham
Dr. Adelina Roseland has worked ten years in research as an accent reduction specialist to attain her dream job. But a secret wager to transform Appalachian cattle farmer Reese Mitchell into corporate material challenges Adelina in ways she never expected, threatening her new position.
For one, Adelina didn’t plan for the faith and friction of Reese, or the unexpected influence of his chaotic family. Now, drawn into a culture she’d tried to forget, Adelina finds the warmth of family, the hope of faith, and the joy of love melting away the deep wounds of her past.
But when Reese discovers that he’s a pawn in her climb up the academic ladder, will he forgive Adelina’s deceit or will their miscommunication end in two broken lives?
my thoughts
This book is perfectly perfect! Mountains, accents, rugged hard working man with a soft heart, comfort food, sweet little people (with adorable accents!), and HEALING!!! Love. Love. Love! Okay, deep breath, let’s talk about this story!
Dr. Adelina Roseland is a serious workaholic and her determination level is somewhere between obsessive and insane. I completely respect that. This gal is white-knuckling her way through life, completely terrified of failure. Somewhere along the way, Dee’s understanding of God’s nature has gone all cattywampus and she just feels completely alone. Life is hard, people need the REAL Jesus.
Reese Mitchell is wow. (Pepper, WOW!) He’s a down-home kind of hero. Reese is ruggedly handsome, perfectly flawed, he loves his family, works hard, and best of all, he loves Jesus and lives it. I won’t spoil any of the delightful surprises for you, readers, but know this: Reese is the real deal. The whole Mitchell family is genuine and authentic. His sassy young daughter and adorable toddling son stole my heart. Reese’s mama and siblings are fiercely supportive and completely entertaining!
Pepper Basham has firmly planted herself on my all-time favorite authors list. I don’t even need to know what her next book is about to know that I want to read it!!!
I requested this title from the publisher, Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas, in order to present an honest review. The opinions expressed are my own.

Tell me how you feel about a fictional hero with facial hair. How does that relate to the reality part of your life?
I’ve had a shift in my opinion on this topic in the last few years and I’d like to hear what you think!
Be sure to add A Twist of Faith by Pepper Basham to your tbr!
yes yes! To all of the above! Especially Reese and WOW in the same description 😉

Didn’t sound very eloquent but I know he wouldn’t mind. 😉 That reminds me, I need to get a fireplace or wood burning stove of some sort…

I LOVED this book and the other two by her also! 😀 To answer your question – I don’t mind facial hair on the heroes. In real life, I know several men with facial hair and as long as they keep it nicely trimmed, I think it can look really good. It totally changes the way a guy looks though! My husband likes to grow his beard out on vacations and once it gets past the scratchy part, it doesn’t bother me. 🙂

Ah, Rachel, we are like-minded! Shaggy beards need not apply. 😀 My husband always shaved once a week until a few years ago. Now, I love his trimmed beard and I never even thought I’d like it. Thanks for stopping by and talking guy hair with me 🙂
