Describe your writing style in five words.

L: Mystery, adventure, faith, humor, romance

Share your inspiration behind eXtreme Blindside.

L: This novel is set at an extreme sporting event. I really wanted to bring these amazing sports to life through my descriptions, so I spent a lot of time watching videos of snowboarding, snowmobile jumping, ski jumping, and other such sports. It was definitely fun research.

What are some of the challenges you faced while writing eXtreme Blindside?

L: Ever since I had written my first novel, Perfect Blindside, I had hoped to write a sequel. But since I had no pressing ideas, I worked on two other stories, An Unexpected Role and Where You Lead first. Once inspiration finally stuck, getting back into these characters was more difficult than I’d expected. So instead of tackling the full-length novel, I wrote a few short stories and a published novella with the main characters as well as a couple from my book An Unexpected Role. Writing those short adventures was so fun and did the trick. (By the way, one of these is offered as a free gift for anyone who signs up for my author newsletter.)

What is your reading style?

L: I mostly read kindle books on my phone. I enjoy paperbacks but having numerous books right on my phone is so convenient.

What is your next release and/or what are you working on now?

L: I recently finished a new book titled A Summer to Treasure. This story is a little different than my usual books, in that it is about a family on a summer adventure, so it deals a lot with sibling relationships. The idea for this novel came to me a few years ago while on vacation, so I’m excited to have it finally come together. I’m in the process of searching for a publisher.

What’s your writing style?

L: My stories all usually start with a general idea, then I let my imagination run wild. Unlike some authors who plan and outline, I just start writing and see where the story leads. As the book develops, the themes that I want to focus on become apparent. Writing went from a hobby that I fit around raising children, to a full-time job/ministry. I would say I spend about 1/3 of my time writing and editing, 1/3 marketing, and 1/3 reading and reviewing other faith-based YA novels for my website and other organizations.
