q&a
Share five favorites.
B: outdoor activity – Gardening if I’m at home. I always like to see what’s growing. It’s a surprise every day. Biking if I’m on vacation. Cruising along the beach with the sun on my face is one of the happiest things I do.
movie – Secondhand Lions. It’s funny, encouraging, and heartwarming and who doesn’t love a pet lion?
place to visit – St. Simons, an island off the coast of Georgia. It’s a small community with a charm all its own. In fact I once wrote a book set there.
childhood author – Laura Ingalls Wilder. One of the great things about homeschooling my children for eight years is I could revisit all my favorite books. One summer as part of our educational travel, we actually visited Laura’s home in DeSmet, South Dakota and where she later lived and wrote the Little House books in Mansfield, Missiouri.
book series – Mitford Series by Jan Karon. I hope readers can see her influence in my work.
Beth: Just to avoid any confusion… plain text B (above) is our author friend, Beverly, and italicized Beth here is your blogger friend hostess interviewer! I love meeting authors and fellow homeschooling mamas, double bonus for today!
What is your favorite activity or hobby not related to books?
B: I am also an artist and enjoy painting in oil and watercolor. I’m a member of an arts foundation and through that have had amazing opportunities to participate in juried shows including several at a state university gallery. I have a small Etsy store where I sell notecards of some of my paintings.
Beth: Oh wow! That’s amazing!
What is your reading style?
B: I read print but also have an ereader which is often easier for travel. My routine is usually reading before bed at night when the day is behind me and I can read without a to-do list begging for attention.
Beth: That’s when I read, too! (plus every spare moment I can squeeze in)
What is your next release and/or what are you working on now?
B: I’m working on a sequel to A Plan for Everything. It’s a Christmas book also set in Worthville, Georgia entitled A Season for Everything.
Beth: Cute title! Thank you so much for sharing with us, Beverly!
