my thoughts

A Return to Devotion is genuine, heartfelt and sprinkled with humor and grace. The personality of Haven Manor itself leaps from the pages, inviting readers to reminisce even as it conforms to its new purpose. 

Seclusion, and perhaps even the support of her friends, has allowed Daphne to remain in a safe yet stunted chrysalis within the walls of Haven Manor. As much as I love her for pouring her heart into the lives of innocent society castoffs, cheering Daphne on as she struggles to unfurl her wings has further endeared her to my reader heart for the depth and authenticity of her character.

William craves solitude (I can relate!) and order yet, because of his compassion, he chooses to overlook the many eccentricities of his new home and unconventional staff. His inner dialogue as he attempts to sort out the unusual clues and occurrences surrounding him at Haven Manor (as well as Daphne’s often frantic or dramatic inner musings) cleverly fills the natural void between the two introverts.

Fans of Regency romance won’t want to miss a single moment of Kristi Ann Hunter’s original storytelling. She skillfully laces drama, humor, and faith throughout each book and I highly recommend the Haven Manor series.

Kristi Ann Hunter is the award-winning author of the Hawthorne House series of romances set in Regency England. She is an active member of several writing communities including Romance Writers of America and American Christian Fiction Writers.
