Luna Rosa with Elizabeth Maddrey’s Nick Carter

Hello, reader friends! We get to hang out with one of Elizabeth Maddrey’s fictional friends from Luna Rosa (book 2 of the multi-author A Tuscan Legacy series). Plus, there’s a giveaway!

Meet Nick Carter

pianoNick is one half of a set of twin boys born to his Italian mother and American father. In addition to his twin, he has an older brother. He spends his days tuning pianos and teaching kids to play and his nights writing music he has no plans for anyone else to ever hear. Nick is the hero of Luna Rosa!

five favorite words

Nick: Adagio – Seriously, say it out loud. Uh-dah-zhi-o. What’s not to love? Plus, it means go slowly. I think everyone could use a little more time moving slowly in their lives. From a piano perspective, it gives me a chance to pour myself into the music, which is harder to do when you’re zinging along at a fast pace.

Beth: I’m happy to slow down every now and then. Great word!

Nick: Amore – I promise, they won’t all be Italian words, but Mom used to call me her amore (I mean, she called all her boys that, but still) and sometimes I can still hear her in my head. Man, I miss her.

Beth: What sweet memories, Nick.

Nick: Pitch – Not in the baseball sense, but from a musical standpoint. I spend most of my day every day worrying about pitch, so it probably makes sense that I like the word. Or at least, I like it when that word corresponds to the sound I’m hearing.

Beth: An important word for you!

Nick: Diva – Tuning pianos for a big concert hall, I’ve run into more than my share of people who embody this term, and while I don’t tend to love people who are divas? The word is kind of fun to say.

Beth: I refer to my furbaby Suzie Q as a diva dog but the human variety is much more intimidating!

Nick: Louisiana – Don’t laugh. Seriously, stop laughing. Yes, it’s a state. But it’s also the name of someone who’s turning out to be a little more intriguing than I initially thought possible.

Beth: *smiles knowingly* I think I’d like to meet this someone!

q&a

Will readers be able to follow your story in future books?

Nick: Um, probably not, but they can find me in A Heart Reclaimed. That’s a book about my friend, Duncan, and he and I hang out sometimes if I’m tuning pianos in his building. He’s a great guy.

Beth: THAT’S where I’ve heard your name before! I love Peacock Hill!

sparkling mineral water with lemonWhat is your go-to beverage?

Nick: I love sparkling mineral water. Not the flavored kind in the funky looking cans, although that’s fine in a pinch. No, I like the fancy green bottle, with or without a slice of lime.

Beth: Is this a big city thing? I’ll have to try it, I like my ice water with lemon sometimes.

What is your comfort food?

Nick: Anything Italian. My big brother, Marco, makes a mean pizza, but you can’t have an Italian mama and not love the food.

Beth: Great answer and yum! Pizza I understand completely!

about the book

Luna Rosa by Elizabeth Maddrey

She loves the spotlight, he prefers backstage. Can they still play love’s duet?

Luna Rosa by Elizabeth MaddreyNick Carter’s career as a piano tuner and teacher keeps him off-stage and allows him plenty of time to compose music he has no intention of ever publishing. Enter Louisiana Chalfant, the new symphony pianist who embodies the word diva. She’s exactly the kind of woman Nick has vowed to avoid, but when they’re cajoled into playing a duet he finds there’s more to her than he first thought.

Louisiana settles into her temporary role with the symphony in Washington, D.C., glad for the reprieve from touring professionally. She’s astonished to discover immense talent in the handsome man who keeps her piano in tune. Practicing for a duet at church gives her the perfect opportunity to get to know the real Nick.

As they play together, Nick and Louisiana develop a friendship that begins to morph into something more, but what happens when their diverging goals threaten to upstage their love?
