I have a treat for all my fantasy fiction fans today! We’re visiting with a couple of characters from a brand new release, Washed Under the Waves by Gloria Clover and y’all have two opportunities to win this title and more!
meet Tayte Bashan
Tayte Bashan lives on the hidden island of Undae. Ruler of this tiny island by default of her black hair, 23-year-old Tayte knows she’s done a poor job of caring for her people since the last tsunami took both her parents, her older brother, and her grandfather. But she’s trying to rectify that in preparation for the prince. Washed Under the Waves is her story!
q&a
Describe yourself in five words.
Tayte: Before or after I met the King? I’m sorry to cause trouble, but I just want to do this right.
Before: Black-haired, incompetent ruler of Undae.
After: Beloved daughter of the King.
Beth: No trouble, just relax and have a little fun.
Tell us about another character on Undae
Tayte: Character? Micah’s quite the character. Too witty for his own good and my peace of mind. But such a good influence for my cousin Crystal.
Athan: Beth, apologies for interrupting, but I doubt Tayte thought to describe herself as literal-minded. Knowing that may help you conduct this interview.
Beth: Welcome, Athan! Thank you for the advice, I’m sure you know Tayte better than anyone. Allow me to introduce you to my readers as well…
Meet Prince Geoffery Athan D’Ambrose
Prince Geoffery Athan D’Ambrose, son of the King, is sent to Undae in disguise as a tutor to help Tayte prepare the island for the prince’s arrival. Twenty-six-year-old Athan chafes at his disguise, first because he’s proud to be the first sent on a mission to the Archipelago of Solumnus, second because he knows Tayte is going to hate him when she realizes the deception. And he really doesn’t want Tayte to hate him.
Beth: …aaaaand back to our questions!
Tayte, if you could be an animal, which would you choose and why?
Tayte: Maybe one of the mice who helped Cinderella? No, the Black Stallion. He was so powerful and loving.
Athan: Apologies again. There isn’t any wildlife to speak of on Undae. All Tayte’s knowledge of animals is through books.
Beth: Perfectly acceptable! We love books here! 😉
What book are you reading right now?
Tayte: I can answer that one! The book of Esther. I like her. She yielded to the King and ended up married to a virtual stranger, but it worked out.
Athan: Indeed.
Beth: Aw, you two! ????
What is your favorite comfort food?
Tayte: Cream puffs. *exchanges a significant look with Athan*
Beth: That looks tells me there’s an inside story here…
Will readers be able to follow you in future books?
Tayte: Oh, we’ll get a mention now and then, but I think more people will be interested in my cousin Cameo as the series progresses. Athan and I are content here on Undae Island.
Beth: Thanks to both of you for visiting us here today and enjoy your happily ever after! ❤
about the book
Washed Under the Waves by Gloria Clover
A hidden island. A prince in disguise…and a lady torn between love and duty.
Lady Tayte Bashan never desired the distinctive black hair that marks her as Undae royalty, but when her family perishes in a devastating tsunami, the burden of leadership falls upon her young shoulders. Even as she prepares her island for the prophesied prince, she fears the duty to marry him is truly meant for another.
Dispatched by the King to an island untouched by the outside world for centuries, Prince Geoffrey Athan D’Ambrose must lead its people to the ultimate truth. But how is he supposed to win the heart of Undae’s princess when the King sends him disguised as a tutor?
Betrayal stirs within Castle Bashan, a threat as deadly as the rising wave. Now Tayte and Athan must brave the maelstrom or watch as the entire island succumbs to treachery’s destructive tide.

This series looks interesting! I’m not a huge fan of cream puffs (or cream filled donuts, haha I’m sensing a theme here) but I will eat practically anything that has chocolate in it. ????

My 16 year old daughter is a fan of cream puffs. She actually loves the box you can get from the freezer section at Walmart. They would have to be bakery-fresh for me and even then I am not a huge fan. But I do love baked goods!

Thankfully Athan isn’t a cream puff. 🙂 And I, too, like more cream than puff.
