Butterflies on Breezes by Valerie ComerLike a butterfly on a summer breeze, love rarely lands where it’s expected.

Working for her dad’s landscaping business stifles Linnea Ranta. When she’s invited to design and build a community garden with an intriguing master carpenter, she seizes the chance to unfurl her wings, but at what expense to her heart?

Logan Dermott eases back his flirting when he senses Linnea’s fragility, but she has more backbone than he suspected. As they work together, Logan finds he’s falling for her, but it may be too late to win her love.

Will Linnea break free of her chrysalis and fly away before Logan realizes what he almost had?

My Thoughts

I adore this fictional small town community within the big city of Spokane! United by proximity, a new community center, and a cozy-sized church, this neighborhood is graced with the intimate charm of a matchmaking grandma figure and nonstop 3-on-3 basketball.

Linnea spreads her wings for the first time in many ways throughout the story. She’s a loveable character and sees herself as a bit of an underdog. Readers will enjoy seeing her bloom and grow into the woman God created her to be.

Logan has been globetrotting for years without a care in the world. Spokane is just supposed to be a stop along the way but he is intrigued by a woman who embodies both fragility and strength. Logan’s journey challenges readers to seek God’s will.

The rather large cast of secondary characters gives the story an authentic backdrop while readers build rapport with neighbors from all walks of life. This book is packed with life lessons and various models of sustainability and green living.

I requested the opportunity to read and review this title through the author. The opinions expressed are my own.

Let’s talk fresh food! Do you grow any of your own food or shop a local farmer’s market?

  1. Nice review! I shopped one of the local “farmer’s markets” that set up in the parking lot of a strip mall, until I saw one person buying veggies at Costco and dumping them into wooden crates in the back of his truck. He kind of ruined it for me.
When I was little, my grandfather had a garden and grew a lot of the food we ate. Corn, potatoes, beans, carrots, tomatoes, peas and many other things I don’t remember. My grandmother canned a lot of it.

  2. I agree with Carrie that Valerie’s covers are awesome.

I recently won a copy of her new romance novella and I am going to make time to read it! Her whole sustainable farming and clean/locally grown food theme really resonates with the lifestyle we are trying to embrace.
