Behind the Buzz Blitz

Sharing a behind the scenes update every couple of years has unintentionally become a bit of a tradition around here. I’m so excited to visit with you my dear reader friends as we celebrate 5 years of buzzing about books with JustRead Pubicity Tours.

five favorite functions

Although I still function as a host (or book bee, bringing bookish reviews, spotlights, and giveaways directly to readers like you), these days the majority of my book love is poured out behind the scenes as the organization coordinator and business owner of JustRead Publicity Tours. Let’s approach this update in true Faithfully Bookish fashion with my five favorite functions I am responsible for within the company in honor of JustRead’s 5th birthday!

Business administration
First up is the area where my nerdiness shines. I spreadsheet to my heart’s content when it comes to budgeting, pricing, and campaign performance overview. Policies and procedures fall within this function as well and I thrive when analyzing, prioritizing, and streamlining.

Scheduling
A calendar is basically a spreadsheet so it’s no surprise that I take great joy in managing the campaign calendar, keeping tabs on our hourly workload, managing the frequency of our host newsletter, and tucking in additional promotions for our readers. I definitely utilize my decades of mother hen experience in this capacity.

Day-to-day finances
Honestly, in the absence of a healthy mindset and purposeful pricing, invoicing used to be uncomfortable. Fortunately, we have enough experience under our belt to know what our expenses are including how many hours each campaign requires to provide a quality service we are proud of. Our commitment to streamlining workflow and keeping our expenses low makes it possible for JustRead to bless the efforts of our volunteer influencers through host giveaways and our team at an hourly rate.

Visual branding
Oh, all the pretty things! I’m an amateur yet enthusiastic student of graphic design and branding. I love creating our campaign banners and graphics, website elements, bookstagram photos, social media stories and reels, letterhead, newsletters, stickers, buttons, bookmarks, signage, and more to come.

Teamwork & Partnerships
Encouraging our book community is near and dear to my heart. We at JustRead love bringing authors and readers together. Whether we’re discussing which campaign is the best fit for a particular title or sharing about life’s challenges and struggles, each email exchanged with our volunteers, team, clients, and partners is an opportunity to extend grace and edify one another. On a larger scale JustRead supports events that promote bookish fellowship and the celebration of story.

As I mentioned in my last update, I’m blessed to work at the intersection of administrative nerd and passionate book pusher. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to promote and support authors (and publishers) of entertaining, encouraging, and redemptive stories. The fact that I can do so with likeminded believers and enthusiastic readers is icing on the cake.

On the homefront, our eldest is soon to be a homeschool graduate, we have a new puppy, sold our camper, and are in the midst of our largest building project since my husband built our house over ten years ago.
