my thoughts
I don’t often toss around the term “book hangover” but it is most certainly warranted in this situation. This story didn’t simply dabble in incredibly difficult and uncomfortable life struggles… no flirting around the edges for the sake of being relevant here!
Stay with Me is genuinely marinated in grit and shame yet seasoned with grace and authenticity. Yes, my reader heart was trampled by heavy emotion but the empathy gained is well worth the cost. Grief, substance abuse, guilt, secrets, and shame play important roles in the lives of these characters and they are crafted with transparency and heart.
A simple small-town girl who happens to be a quasi-famous Christian celebrity meets ridiculously handsome Aussie-American foodie guy who lives in a historic mountain valley… a purely wonderful storyline without all the baggage. Stay with Me is more than that. It is exquisitely complex and I highly recommend it. We need more stories like this one to make us think and feel and learn what we may not know we need.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions expressed are my own.

Take a Chance on Me by Becky Wade (Misty River Romance book 0.5)
Christian Contemporary Romance Novella
ebook, 97 Pages
February 25th 2020When baker Penelope Quinn steps in to help her brother’s family through a medical crisis, she’s forced into close proximity with charming Air Force fighter pilot Eli Price.
Penelope has one iron-clad dating rule—she does not date airmen. Months ago, she relaxed her rule with Eli and immediately lived to regret it. After a long deployment, he’s now back in Misty River and, to her dismay, she finds him just as tempting as always.
Eli’s spent months thinking about funny, feisty, creative Penelope. He once leveraged his focus and drive to become a pilot, his childhood dream. Now he’s set on leveraging that same focus and drive in order to convince Penelope to give him one more chance.
This romantic prequel novella introduces readers to the quaint mountain town of Misty River and a brand-new series from Christy-winning author Becky Wade!
my thoughts
I love stories that force two people together for a common cause, especially when that common cause happens to be a baby or small child or even multiple children. I also appreciate stories that challenge my perspective and let me tell you, Penelope’s plan of self-preservation and her commitment to the small-town lifestyle made a lot of sense to me. Our “never” often becomes an opportunity to let go and take a step of faith while trusting God’s will for our lives, doesn’t it?! Take a Chance on Me is entertaining and a touching reminder of the great sacrifices made by servicemen and women and their families on our nation’s behalf.
I purchased an ebook copy of this title. The opinions expressed are my own.
