What is your favorite activity or hobby not related to books?

D: I love to tole paint. This is painting designs onto wood surfaces. It’s fun and relaxes me. Unfortunately, I don’t have as much time to paint as I would like!

B: So artsy! What a creative hobby!

Do you have a favorite bookish habit?

D: I have a book fetish. I keep buying them (both paper and e-book) even though I have tons to read. My husband tells me he’s not buying any more bookshelves. 🙂

B: This is when you start DIYing bookshelves… then he’s buying lumber, not bookshelves. 😉

Share your inspiration behind Border Breach.

D: I’ve crossed different borders into the States many times and I’ve often thought it would be fun to put a female border patrol agent together with a police officer to solve a smuggling ring. When I started googling some ideas, the doda drug came up and that’s when the storyline came to me.

B: Confession: I have never crossed an international border.

What book(s) are you reading right now?

D: A Girl’s Guide to the Outback by Jessica Kate, Faith Over Fear – devotional book by Lisa Stilwell

B: Excellent choices! We all need to laugh and have faith right now!

What is your reading style?

D: My fave is paperback, but I will read on my Kindle too. Favorite place to read – on the couch in my family room.

B: Yes! I wholeheartedly agree!

What are you working on now?

D: Working on another border crossing story.

B: Ooooo! YAY!

What’s your writing style?

D: I’m a little bit of both a pantser and a plotter. I like to have a general storyline worked out before starting Chapter 1, but then let the story come to me as I write. My favorite part of the process? Setting up my characters – deciding on their backstory and picking what movie stars I picture them as.

B: Sounds like a balanced approach to me and you have a great reason to watch movies: research!

Do you have any writing quirks?

D: Love to drink coffee while I write. 🙂

B: Fueling those stories with caffeine! Thanks so much for visiting with us today, Darlene! I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the story, the first couple of chapters are action-packed!
