Faithfully Bookish

I recently read my first book by today’s featured author at the recommendation of book blog guru Rel of Relz Reviews. Y’all, it was love at first read!!! Without further adieu, let’s find out all about her next release and admire some book covers!

About the Author

Ronie Kendig is an award-winning, bestselling author who grew up an Army brat. She married her own hunky hero, who’s an Army veteran. After twenty-plus years of marriage, she and her husband have a full life with four children and two dogs. Ronie’s degree in psychology has helped her pen novels of raw, broken characters.

Since launching onto the publishing scene, Ronie’s Rapid-Fire Fiction has hit the CBA Bestseller List, won the prestigious Christy Award, finaled in numerous contests and reader awards, including ACFW Carol Awards, RWA’s Faith, Hope, & Love’s Inspirational Readers’ Choice Awards, Christian Retailing’s Readers’ Choice Awards, INSPY Award, The Christian Manifesto Lime Awards, and FamilyFiction’s Readers’ Choice Choice Awards.

Ronie loves people and helping other writers through speaking, workshops, and/or mentoring.

Five Favorite Book Covers

Ronie: I have been known more than once to buy a new author because I found the cover too delicious to resist. Here are some of my favorites:

This cover tops my list—the orange speaks to its setting, but the blocked-out text also speaks to the great secret and mystery. And it turned out to be an incredible story in an extremely fascinating format!

Beth: Ooooo, I like the orange!

Ronie: I found one of my all-time favorite authors because of this cover, which I loved because the cross is interwoven with DNA strands, and that made me wonder what was going to happen in the story.

Beth: … and NOW I AM curious!

Ronie: This cover is just plain beautiful—the picture doesn’t do it justice because it has a sort of pearlescent touch to it. And the book—WOW! I struggled with it at first, but pushed on, thanks to the advice of a friend, and I now say it’s among my top reads for the year!

Beth: I love this cover! The blue and the yellow and the butterflies… and moths?! Intriguing!

Ronie: This cover is just plain stunning, and the story within it just as amazing. #teamgarr I think the colors and placement of the characters is just so emotive! LOVE it!

Beth: YES!!! Oh, I adore this story and cover! My reader heart is going pitter patter just remembering this experience ???? *happy sigh*

Ronie: And is it cheesy of me to choose one of my own covers? I absolutely adore the vibrancy of my second fantasy novel, Accelerant.

Beth: Not at all cheesy!!! It is an incredible cover! So fierce!

Books

Tell us about your next release

Ronie: In September, Crown of Souls releases. It’s the second book in the Tox Files series, and I had a lot of fun with the book, as it takes the characters on a sort of treasure hunt to stop a madman with a vicious agenda. In Crown, Tox explores his own “monster” that he must confront and deal with.

Crown of Souls by Ronie KendigSix months after stopping a deadly plague, Cole “Tox” Russell and his team are enjoying a little rest. That peace is short-lived when a sniper shot hits Tox. The enemy is discovered to be one of their own, a rogue Special Forces team operator.

Alec King is perhaps the only person as skilled as Tox, and he’s out for justice. Furious with orders that got his men killed, he intends to make those responsible pay. And he insists Tox join him, believing they are the same breed of soldier.

Afraid his old friend is right, Tox battles a growing darkness within himself as he and his team engage in another deadly encounter with antiquity. It appears Alec is cheating–he’s using a mysterious artifact, a crown that history has linked to some of the worst slaughters in humanity.

Racing to stop Alec before his vengeance is unleashed, Tox must fight the monster without becoming one.

The Tox Files

Beth: I’m so excited about Tox’s next adventure!!!
Readers, check out my review of book 1 and #DealAlert y’all!!! The Warrior’s Seal ebook is FREE and Conspiracy of Silence is $1.99 (or less) in ebook format at your favorite retailer for the month of July!!!

What are you working on now?

Ronie: I’m currently finishing the third book in the Tox Files, Thirst of Steel. This book is a very complicated novel as it not only has its own plot to bring to a satisfying ending, but all the questions drummed up over the course of the series must be addressed. I am excited about it, but it’s really wringing me out!

Beth: Hang in there, Ronie! Tox is counting on you!

Q&A

Just for fun (since book 3 is giving you a rough time), what is your go-to beverage?

Ronie: Right now, it’s a tossup between Starbucks’ Pink Drink and a good ol’ fashioned iced unsweet green tea, made with Tazo’s Zen Tea. ❤

Beth: What colorful choices! 😉

One last book question (I just can’t get enough Tox ????), what is something most people don’t know about the setting of The Tox Files series?

Ronie: In Crown of Souls, the team journeys to ancient sites, and it was heartbreaking as I was working on this story to hear news reports of ISIS/ISIL destroying (bulldozers, blasting, etc.) these ancient and incredible sites. It’s absolutely heartrending!!

Beth: I hate to hear that 😦 Thank you for spreading the cover love and sharing your book news with us, Ronie!!!

I’ve never read one of Ronie Kendig’s books, but I’d like to. Not sure where to start.

  3. Strange the Dreamer caught my eye as well, and I think the colors are fun. I also think Conspiracy of Silence is great too! Not to be left out my favorite drink is plain old ice water (so bland I know), but always my go-to drink of choice!

      1. Yes, our Brita filter has a hard time keeping up with all the water we drink in our house! 🙂 Glad we aren’t alone!

  5. I’m a HUGE Tamara Leigh fan, so I’m picking “The Unveiling”. But Mr. Tall Dark and Brooding would look fabulous on my bookshelf as well. 🙂 Thanks for the chance to win a copy.

  6. I don’t think I could choose a cover! My favorite is Constant Comment tea. I drink it hot, and yes it’s too hot here in Texas to drink it now…103 today and no rain in sight. Miserably hot!

  7. Of the five, I’d say either The Unveiling or Accelerant ????… but I also really like Conspiracy of Silence! My favorite drink would either be a wonderfully iced sweet tea or a Diet Pepsi/Pepsi mix.
