Five Favorite Recipes for Summer
Laurie: Since the heroine of my debut novel is a food blogger, I have to give the real food bloggers some love!
You have not lived until you’ve made your own ice cream. I love the Blueberry Chocolate Chip Ice Cream recipe from Love & Olive Oil because you can also substitute summer strawberries, blackberries, or raspberries for sweet, creamy deliciousness!
This Heirloom Tomato, Zucchini, Caramelized Onion and Feta Galette from Foodie Crush is part pizza, part savory pie and combines juicy summer tomatoes and herbs for a yummy lunch or dinner.
Nothing says summer potlucks like this Strawberry Pretzel Pie from The Pioneer Woman! If you’re not feeling pretzels for a dessert, try her Strawberry Chocolate Layer Cake instead. (Promise not to tell? I use a store-bought chocolate cake mix, and it’s still heavenly!)
I’m part Italian, so of course I have to recommend a pasta dish. Spoon Fork Bacon shows off corn at its peak in this Sweet Corn Pesto Pappardelle. Swoon!
Rainbow Frozen Yogurt Pops from Half Baked Harvest are a must! These creamy pops will be gone faster than they can melt.
Beth: Oh, this post makes me hungry!!! I am drooling. Shout-out to Ree! I adore The Pioneer Woman!

Laurie: It tells the story of a food blogger who creates recipes like those for a living—only her real life isn’t as colorful as her photos or as vibrant as her flavors. She lives a carefully controlled, solitary existence until her employer forces her to team with a millionaire-bad-boy-turned-chef to promote his new restaurant opening. But food has this magic way of bringing people together and helping them discover they have more in common than they thought, that they aren’t as alone in the burdens they carry as they thought…
Beth: This story is simply delicious!
With No Reservations by Laurie Tomlinson
There can be more than comfort in food…
What could well-known and wealthy Graham Cooper Jr. have in common with a blogger like Sloane Bradley, a woman with secrets she’s kept firmly out of the public eye? That is, besides a love of food.
Sloane still can’t believe Cooper’s the chef at the restaurant she’s been assigned to promote. But she’s boiling to prove to him that her “little blog” can put his place on the map.
She can also fall head over heels for the guy, who has secrets of his own, it turns out…except for one thing. She can’t get past the post-traumatic stress disorder that keeps her walled up in her home studio.

Laurie: I’m currently working on my next book for Harlequin Heartwarming. Can I tell you a secret as long as you remember nothing is set in stone? I’m secretly hoping my next book will be Jake (Cooper’s roommate)’s story. In earlier versions of With No Reservations, he originally had more “screen-time,” so he’s very dear to me. I hope to be able to announce more details soon, so stay tuned!
Beth: OH I’d love to read more about Jake! How exciting! Thank you for sharing the yummy summery recipes and your bookish news with us today, Laurie!

Rainbow Frozen Yogurt Pops – maybe. So hard to decide – though I don’t care for blueberries (long story), onions, or pretzels, so maybe it wasn’t so hard! 😀

All the recipes look pretty good but I’d probably try the Strawberry Pretzel Pie since I love strawberries. I also enjoy Ree Drummond’s Pioneer Woman blog and TV show.
Laurie’s book sounds like one I’d really enjoy reading.
