My Thoughts

Miriam is beautiful, epic, and profoundly moving! I have goosebumps just thinking about this book! Thanks to Mesu’s vivid and detailed storytelling, the familiar Exodus story played out in IMAX proportions before my mind’s eye. Readers will journey deep into the possible fears, struggles, thoughts, and emotions of multiple biblical figures.

Reading this book has amplified my understanding of the plagues and those who experienced them. I have to admit I’m guilty of speeding through familiar sections of scripture, often forgetting to slow down and contemplate. For example, I tend to focus on the “mentioned by name” characters in my Bible reading. Obviously, there are many family members and neighbors who also witnessed God’s wonders and impacted the lives of those central figures and future leaders as well. Mesu even included Moses’ dog in the story and you know I love stories with animals!

Miriam will be a permanent fixture on my bookshelf for years to come and I’m so excited to read the first title in the Treasures of the Nile series, The Pharaoh’s Daughter. I’m looking forward to diving deeper into the Word while enjoying Mesu’s novels!

Mesu and her husband, Roy, have two grown children and (Praise God!) a growing number of grandkids. They live in Washington, where Roy serves as the academic dean at Multnomah Biblical Seminary. They have a Staffordshire Terrier named Zeke who keeps Mesu company while she writes.
