Freedom’s Kiss by Sarah Monzon

I’m delighted to share my review of Freedom’s Kiss by Sarah Monzon, the third action-packed romantic split-time novel of the Carrington Family series!

about the book

Freedom’s Kiss by Sarah Monzon

They were both prisoners of their past. Could legacy be the key to setting them free?

Olivia Arroyo knows who she is and where she’s going—her sense of family responsibility a stepping stone to her dream of becoming a chef. When her employer refuses her the chance to move from server to the kitchen, she makes another opportunity for herself with the owner of a new food truck. But her life derails when a hidden piece of her past suddenly comes to light, and she discovers everything she thought she knew about herself has been a lie.

A single decision can have innumerable consequences—a truth that has changed Adam Carrington’s life. A criminal defense attorney turned food truck owner, he is haunted by his role in an unpardonable act and driven by his need to make restitution. Unexpected help comes in the form of a feisty, raven-haired beauty, but she soon begins challenging his kitchen as well as his heart.

Florida, 1816
Propelled by a fleeting hope of freedom, Winnie and her family escape slavery and find refuge and new life with the Seminole Indians of Florida. But their future is still uncertain as threats of war, a return to slavery, and removal to the west shake their tentative grasp on freedom. Will they ever step out of the shadow of fear to leave a legacy of deliverance?

my thoughts

Sarah Monzon’s stories continue to exceed my high expectations! Freedom’s Kiss organically melds diverse cultures and time periods for one completely captivating and genuinely soulful adventure.

Freedom's Kiss by Sarah Monzon quote + review on Faithfully Bookish

Olivia Arroyo is a delightful character and I love the way she tenaciously pursues her dream figuratively taking a food truck by the horns. Olivia is observant, hardworking, and compassionate. She is generous with her time and encouragement even after a shocking discovery rocks her world.

The confident, uber-successful Carrington brother traded in his fancy lawyer duds for the Southern Comfort food truck and casual kicks. Either way, Adam is a swoon-worthy hero and a gentleman to the core. His tender battered spirit puts my heartstrings in a knot.

Our historical heroine, Winnie, is my favorite Sarah Monzon character of the past to date! She embodies the courage, determination, and devotion of a spirited people in perilous times. The melding of former slaves into Seminole tribes is fascinating and inspiring.

It’s always a pleasure to spend time with the Carrington family and I hope we get a chance to explore “little” sister’s story, too! I highly recommend this story and the entire Carrington family series!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions expressed are my own.
