Five Favorite Heroes

Crystal: If you’ve read any of my books, you know I’m a total sucker for broken heroes. 😉 Here are a few of my faves:

Ethan Deluca—the Italian, lays it all on the table, protective fire fighter in Write Me Home. The way he pursues Cassidy, draws her out of her shell, and shows her what love really looks like… Gah…Total swooning going on here, I’m telling ya.

Arms of Promise by Crystal Walton

Evan O’Riley—the all-guy, protective, carries the weight of the world on his shoulders Army Ranger in Arms of Promise. There’s something so compelling about a broken hero who loves and protects with both a fierceness and gentleness. Seriously one of my favorites!

Drew Anderson—the steady, protective, hard-working enigma business owner in Begin Again. Definitely one of my new all-time faves. He starts off guarding himself from letting Ti in. But as those walls come down…wow…So. In. Love. The way he falls so hard for her—all of her—and fights to show her who she is underneath her fears…sigh.

And here are a couple from my very favorite author, Kristen Heitzmann:

Lance Michelli—the take charge, emotion-showing, intense Italian hero in Kristen Heitzmann’s Michelli Family Series. He actually reminds me a bit of Ethan in Write Me Home. I totally fell for him in Books One and Two. There’s something about his passionate drive, swagger, and the combination of intensity and gentleness. Love!

Cameron Pierce—the gruff, passionate, protective investigator in Kristen Heitzmann’s Freefall. Once again, I was so easily taken with the intricate combination of strong yet tender masculinity.

Beth: Oh what a swoony collection! I have to say, Ethan is my favorite and I adore his sweet Nona (read my review of Write Me Home)! Also, YES! Kristen Heitzmann!!!

Tell us about your newest release

Crystal: My newest release is Begin Again, Book Two in the Home In You Series. I intended for Write Me Home to be a standalone, but I was so pleasantly surprised to see readers asking for the heroine’s best friend, Ti Russo, to get her own story.

From the first page Ti shows up on, you quickly learn she’s a memorable character. The girl’s a riot. An eccentric, bold, no-filter, free-spirited girl from Queens, NY who keeps everyone on their toes. But more than simply offering comic relief, she brings this vast emotional depth to the screen in such an unexpected way.

I didn’t have to think twice who I wanted to pair her up with. Her exact opposite. Naturally. 😉 And of course, when she collides with single dad, I-have-it-all-together, steady and responsible business owner Drew Anderson—boy, do the sparks fly!

Both have heartbreaking pasts, make countless blunders, and fear the gift of beginning again. But what I love most is how grace never stops pursuing them. It’s such a beautiful depiction of God’s pursuit of us. Despite our pasts, in light of our mess-ups, even when we run in the exact opposite direction of where He’s leading—still He continues to beckon.

What happens when a free-spirited artist from big-city New York collides with an uptight business owner from small-town Ocracoke? Fireworks. The kind neither saw coming.

Begin Again by Crystal WaltonA single call is all it takes to drive artist Ti Russo into what she does best. Run. But hey, lying low in a beach town for a while isn’t so bad. Thanks to the distraction of playing consultant to a guy she’s determined to crack, she can almost forget about the past stalking her back home. But she never counted on the real danger being a picket-fenced life she has no business falling for.

Focus and self-preservation have gotten single dad Drew Anderson through the last nine years. With the threat of his shop’s foreclosure jeopardizing his daughter’s health care, the last thing he needs is a distracting hippie chick swooping in to shake up what he’s fought to protect. Including himself. The bank’s deadline adds enough pressure without re-risking feelings better left buried.

But as sparks flare and secrets escalate, the race against time propels Ti and Drew into a choice neither’s ready to make: Find the faith to surrender their past or forfeit their only chance to begin again.

Download Begin Again and escape into a sparks-flying, opposites-attract contemporary clean romance full of small-town charm, broken characters, and deep undertones of grace that’ll win your heart.

From day one of working on this book, it’s been my hope that Drew and Ti’s story leaves you with a reminder of that truth.

Beth: It’s a beautiful and moving novel! Ti’s story definitely tugs on my heartstrings. (read my review of Begin Again)

Crystal: A side character in Begin Again, Cooper Anderson, will get the next book in the series (which I’m absolutely dying to write!!). But I’m working on a prequel to Write Me Home first, called Still Falling. Set in New York City, this novella features an NYPD officer and a violinist who reconnect after four years, when the heroine broke off their engagement. Suspense, family, romance, emotional depth…all of my faves!

Beth: Cooper is an intruiging character. I’m looking forward to getting to know him better!
