If there’s one thing twenty-nine-year-old Blaze Donovan can’t abide, it’s respectable women who spout piety and prayer, so when he butts heads with perky Maggie Mullaney at St. Mary Louise Hospital, he wants to stay as far away from her as he possibly can. Unfortunately, she now lives in the bedroom next to his in his uncle’s ranch house, a revolting development that sends Blaze to The Ponderosa Saloon more than usual. But when Maggie interferes in Blaze’s life by converting his favorite “disrespectable” girl, Blaze is determined to make her pay. Only problem is—the price HE has to pay may be a little too steep for his heart.
my thoughts
Attraction, kisses, tempers, and evangelism… if you think one of these things doesn’t belong, you’re wrong! Lessman takes readers west during the women’s suffrage movement to impart lessons of forgiveness, commitment, and redemption in her unique signature style, “Passion With a Purpose.”
Maggie Mullaney is an innocent young woman with a compassionate servant’s heart. She has patience, wisdom, and a deep anchoring and abiding faith. Maggie’s gentle personality has a distinct sassy streak, no doubt acquired from her close relationship with “Aunt” Libby O’Shea. Stubborn, hurting, firecracker of a suffragist Libby certainly needs a friend like Maggie to show her unconditional love.
Blaze Donovan is a charming cowboy ladies man with a temper and a disdain for religion. He is a hard-worker, devoted big brother, always respectful towards his elders, and willing to donate his time and energy to worthy causes. Blaze’s after-hours activities are much less shiny and his lack of faith stands between his heart and his greatest desires. As far as family goes, he hit a jackpot when Uncle Fin became a part of his everyday life.
Silver Lining Ranch sounds like a wonderful place to visit and I’m looking forward to more stories in this series! If you like kisses, almost kisses, irresistible embraces AND challenging, entertaining, and encouraging stories, I enthusiastically recommend this book to you!
