Hello, reader friends!!! Have y’all seen the Moms’ Night Out movie?! There’s a book too but the movie came first. I’ve never read a novelization of a movie and now I’m curious, which is better, the book inspired movie or movie inspired book?
Anyway, there’s a scene in the movie (several scenes actually but this one in particular) that I completely relate to on a regular basis… early in the movie, Ally is hiding in her closet on Mother’s Day, overwhelmed by the “messy house” not to mention the everyday battle of unmet expectations also known as motherhood (or let’s be honest, womanhood in general).
Well, Ally’s sweet husband finds her there with a now empty bag of chocolates and a live stream of an eagle’s nest… long story short, the little stuff has piled up so much that it feels like insurmountable big stuff and our dear friend Ally is helpless to do anything about it because she is completely “stress paralyzed.”
I don’t know about y’all but I get stress paralyzed in stages and my swoof skills are the first to go! Fortunately, today is our last day of swimming lessons so we’ll be winding down, settling back into our routine, and taking a collective deep cleansing breath of let’s stay home for a few days and get stuff done!
The Rancher’s Surprise Daughter by Jill Lynn
“Nothing like walking into a situation blind. Lucas Wilder bounded up the lodge steps, the late-July wind that twisted across his sun-scorched arms as dry as aged kindling.“
Aaaaaah!!! What a great first line!!! This totally hooks my attention!
One of the great things about Love Inspired books is you can snag one (or more) while you’re out grocery shopping, let it get lost on the arm (or leg) length receipt, and spare your book budget!
