Love’s Mountain Quest with Misty Beller q&a

Hello, reader friends! In honor of new release Love’s Mountain Quest by Misty M. Beller, we are chatting with the author and celebrating this inspiring historical mountain frontier romance!

about the author

Misty M. Beller

Misty M. Beller is a USA Today bestselling author of romantic mountain stories, set on the 1800s frontier and woven with the truth of God’s love.

She was raised on a farm in South Carolina, so her Southern roots run deep. Growing up, her family was close, and they continue to keep that priority today. Her husband and children now add another dimension to her life, keeping her both grounded and crazy.

God has placed a desire in Misty’s heart to combine her love for Christian fiction and the simpler ranch life, writing historical novels that display God’s abundant love through the twists and turns in the lives of her characters.

q&a

Share your favorite way to celebrate the holidays.

M: I have so many special holiday memories of family gatherings at my grandparents’ home, which is the 130-year-old farmhouse on the family farm. Christmas Eve is one of my favorites when we all gather for potato soup and more Christmas goodies than are good for us, then open presents around the tree. Even now, all the cousins do our best to make sure we don’t miss that particular gathering, even with all the pull of in-laws and other family commitments. 🙂

B: That sounds wonderful and I love potato soup, too!

What is your favorite mode of vacationing?

M: Readers who know anything about me or my books won’t be surprised to hear that camping, especially in the mountains, is my favorite vacation! We’re only a couple hours’ drive from the Blue Ridge Mountains, so we spend as much time there as we can fit in. 🙂

B: Oh yay! We’re hoping to do some mountain camping soon but we have to figure in several hours of driving.

Do you have a favorite portion of scripture?

M: Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”

B: That’s a great verse to live by!

What is your favorite character type?

M: Mountain men!! 🙂

B: YES, please! ?

What is your favorite beverage?

Coffee and/or Mountain Dew (the latter is my main vice!)

B: That’s some hardcore drinking, my friend.

What are some of the challenges you faced while writing Love’s Mountain Quest?

M: Oh goodness! As much as I LOVE Isaac and Joanna and their story, this was one of the hardest books I’ve ever written. Mainly because I wrote most of the story during my third trimester of pregnancy with our son! Our little Matthew is our fourth baby (and first boy), so I was VERY heavy with child and the words were not flowing very well in my mind. I could see Isaac and Joanna’s story in my mind, but showing it for readers using real words was the hard part.

Thankfully, I have an amazing editor at Bethany House (waving at Jen Veilleux!) who helped me massage the writing so readers could enjoy the characters and story I love so much. 🙂

B: If you can accomplish anything beyond napping while pregnant, you are a superhero. That is all.

What is your reading style? I’m a diehard audiobook fan! I listen to audiobooks when I’m getting ready in the morning, when I’m driving, doing chores around the house, and ANY other time I can squeeze in. 🙂 Without audiobooks, I’m not sure I’d ever get to read! That’s one of the reasons it’s so important to me that all my books are available on audiobook.

B: Supermama, getting it done!

What is your next release and/or what are you working on now?

M: I love always having a new book on the horizon!

My next book is Light in the Mountain Sky (Book 3 in the Call of the Rockies series), which releases Sept. 29, 2020. For those who’ve been following the series, this is Meksem and Adam’s story, and they’re traveling with their group of friends to save Meksem’s sister who’s been kidnapped. The story stands alone, so readers who haven’t read the other books in the series should still enjoy it, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed spending more time with all the characters in their group, including ones from previous books! Meksem and Adam were even more fun than I suspected they’d be. 🙂

B: Yes, I preordered this even though I haven’t had a chance to sit down with book 2! Thank you for chatting with us, Misty!

about the book

Love’s Mountain Quest by Misty M. Beller (Hearts of Montana book 2)

Love's Mountain Quest by Misty M Beller

After losing her husband in the Rocky Mountain wilderness, young widow Joanna Watson is struggling to make a new home for her five-year-old son, Samuel, in the little mountain town of Settler’s Fort. When she returns home from work to find Samuel and the woman watching him missing–and the sheriff dead–she enlists a man she prays has enough experience in this rugged country to help.

Isaac Bowen wants nothing more than a quiet, invisible life in these mountains, far away from the bad decisions of his past. But he has a strong suspicion of who’s behind the kidnapping and murder, and if he’s right, he knows all too well the evil they’re chasing.

As they press on against the elements, Joanna fights to hold on to hope, while Isaac knows a reckoning is coming. They find encouragement in the tentative trust that grows between them, but whether it can withstand the danger and coming confrontation is far from certain in this wild, unpredictable land.

  2. Thank you for the interview with Misty Beller and the information on “Love’s Mountain Quest”.

We, too, love the mountains. So much so that when we were deciding where to retire to there was no question – the Ozark Mountains.

Love this author’s books and this one is most definitely on my TBR list.

Appreciate the opportunity to win a copy of this fabulous book. Shared every where and hoping to be the very fortunate one selected.

  3. I like the cover. It sounds good. A young widowed mother having to care for her young son alone in a small town in the wilderness is interesting. Mix that with a mystery and a kidnapping even better. A man that want s to be left alone is asked to help. I like the danger and mystery. I also like that it’s part of a series.
