Mackenzie Wilder didn’t want to kill her brother in the true sense, just in the what-were-you-thinking, cartoon-wringing-of-the-neck sense.

my thoughts

From the opening line to a satisfying conclusion, I love this book and all the delicious banter within! This story is for everyone and especially those who have lived the expected life or taken the assumed path. Second chance romance is one of my favorite tropes and Jill Lynn does it right!

The Wilders have quickly become one of my favorite fictional families! Mackenzie is a strong character with complex layers but her tough exterior doesn’t eclipse her compassionate heart. Jace is noble, hard-working, self-sacrificing, a tad misguided, and all kinds of determined. The way these two clash and yet perfectly fit one another’s imperfections is a beautiful thing.

The Bull Rider’s Secret certainly has me reexamining the whys in my own life and I deeply appreciate fiction which challenges my perspective, inspires me and spurs me into action. I highly recommend this story and I picked up a print copy to add to my all-time favorites shelf!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions expressed are my own.

Today on my blog I shared the first line from King’s Shadow by Angela Hunt but it’s also my current read so I’ll share the first line from chapter 23 here: “Anyone who studied Herod in the days following Aristobulus’s death would not doubt his deep and sincere grief.” Happy reading!

  6. Happy Friday!

On my blog, I shared the first couple of lines of a book I recently finished – The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang. Here, though, I’ll be sharing the first lines of one of the books I’m currently reading – Wild Savage Stars by Kristina Perez.

    “The waves mocked her.

Discordant laughter swelled in Branwen’s mind and twisted her heart. She couldn’t remain on the ship one moment longer. Her skin itched.”

Wild Savage Stars is the sequel to Kristina Perez’s Sweet Black Waves, which is a Tristan & Eseult retelling. I’m enjoying it so far and I hope you liked the first few lines I shared.

Hope you have a great weekend!
