The Christmas Heirloom novella collection

about the book

The Christmas Heirloom by Karen Witemeyer, Kristi Ann Hunter, Sarah Loudin Thomas, Becky Wade

The Christmas Heirloom novella collectionFour Holiday Novellas of Love Through the Generations

In Kristi Ann Hunter’s “Legacy of Love,” Sarah Gooding never suspected returning a brooch to an elderly woman would lead to a job . . . and introduce her to the woman’s grandson, a man far above her station.

In Karen Witemeyer’s “Gift of the Heart,” widow Ruth Albright uses the family brooch as collateral for a loan from the local banker. But the more she comes to know the man behind the stern businessman, the more she hopes for a second chance at love.

In Sarah Loudin Thomas’s “A Shot at Love,” Fleeta Brady’s rough-and-tumble childhood means she prefers hunting to more feminine activities. She never expected her family’s brooch might be how a fellow hunter turns her attention from competition to romance.

In Becky Wade’s “Because of You,” Maddie Winslow has spent years in love with a man whose heart was already spoken for. When a church Christmas project brings them together and she stumbles upon an old family brooch, might it finally be her turn for love?

my thoughts

One timeless heirloom binds generations of daughters, mothers, and grandmothers as they overcome different obstacles and hardships to find enduring love in this beautifully crafted multi-author mini-saga.

This collection delights with creative variety in eras, locations, backgrounds, personalities, romance tropes, and more yet each story is equally moving, engaging, and entertaining. The heirloom was skillfully and seamlessly woven into each heroine’s life story as the tale of the family tradition was retold over the years. Words simply can’t express the range and depth of emotions these stories inspired in me.

I am completely in love with this book! Each story filled my heart with reader satisfaction, made me laugh and cry and engage in multiple book hugs. I highly recommend this book, it has earned a place on my all-time favorites shelf, and I look forward to rereading it year after year! Bless your mother, daughter, sister, cousin, or friend with this book then enjoy it together!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions expressed are my own.

  1. I have several heirlooms to pass on. Some jewelry and hand made quits and lathe turned items and tables made by hubby’s grandfather. A dish from my father’s graet aunt. My mother was an Antique Dealer, so she gave me many things. Besides she published her memoirs at 99, before she passed away at 101 last February.

  2. Hi! Unfortunately we do not have a family tradition or heirloom we pass down. I would love to come up with something unique though to start with my children while they are still at home.

  3. We do have a few heirlooms that are passed down from my grandmothers. One of my most cherished is my grandmother’s 1914 wedding dress.

  4. Thank you for your review on “The Christmas Heirloom” by Karen Witemeyer, Kristi Ann Hunter, Sarah Loudin Thomas, Becky Wade. Wonderful authors all in one book. I’d love the opportunity to read it.

One of my most treasured possessions is the cookbook I made comprised of the tried and true recipes from my Mom, Granny and past generations. Thankfully I had the foresight to get them written down while it was possible. At times that meant standing behind my Mom and taking the spices she poured in her hand and measuring them or having her translate in terms we use now to understand what ingredients or measurements to use in a certain recipe. I, in turn, will pass it on to family members later on. It’s during the holidays when I can pull our these treasured recipes that we can share memories of past times and taste the foods that we grew up on.

  5. We have a number of Christmas recipes that have been passed from generation to generation including Dutch banket, sugar cookies and apple crisp. We also carry on the tradition of gathering all the generations together at Christmas and sharing a meal together.
