on tour with Prism Book Tours
Hi, reader friends! I originally volunteered to host a spotlight guest post but I have been simply itching to get my hands on a story from our author friend, Candee Fick, and was able to squeeze in a read and review!
about the book
The Wardrobe Dinner Theater #2
Inspirational Contemporary Romance
Paperback & ebook, 192 pages
February 13th 2018 by Bling! Romance
Free-spirited Elizabeth Foster turned her back on her father’s photography business to pursue musical theater, but a career on the stage remains second to a career behind the camera. The possibility of a one-show contract means she’s a few weeks from unemployment forcing her home, and her dreams of pursuing professional photography reemerge. With photography and theater opportunities unfolding before her, Elizabeth faces her biggest challenge yet—listening to her heart.
Meanwhile, sought-after photographer Ryan Callahan has put his career on hold to help his sister’s family, but the promise of a bigger assignment could lure him away so he can begin building a family of his own. With professional opportunities and personal obligations pulling at him, Ryan faces his toughest challenge—balancing family, relationships, and work.
If given the choice, what dreams would develop for Elizabeth and Ryan? And will they learn to trust each other enough to focus on love?
Isn’t this cover absolutely delightful?! I love the shutter shaped “O” and the bright contrasting pink and swirly “Love” font! This is the kind of cover that grabs an audience right from the shelf.
Liz Foster is a savvy lady and her confidence has obviously grown in the few years she has been working onstage. I admire her bravery, independence, and willingness to grow, mature, and adapt. Liz built her dreams on the foundation laid by her grandparents but now there’s the flicker of a new dream to contend with. (Don’t you love how God blesses us beyond our dreams in ways we would never imagine?)
Ryan Callahan thrives within his nomadic career as a professional photographer yet he willingly puts his dreams on hold when his family needs him to stand in the gap. Despite his globe-trotting and high-demand, award-winning talent, Ryan is a humble, self-sacrificing, and compassionate man of faith. I love the way he reaches out in cooperation rather than competition and consistently places the needs of others above his own.
This author has been recommended to me by a couple of my dearest bookish friends so I had high expectations for this story yet Focus on Love did not disappoint! I’m so happy with this experience and I look forward to reading the author’s backlist and future works.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions expressed are my own.

Liz Foster’s top ten favorite musicals
character interview by Candee Fick
Candee: It’s me again, and I’m back to talk more with Liz Foster. Why? Because I happen to love musicals, especially the romantic ones and especially those I can see at one of our local dinner theaters while on a date with my husband. So, Liz, did you always want to be an actress?
Liz: When I was growing up, there were two things I adored. First, trailing around my grandfather at his photography studio and second, the dance lessons my grandmother thought would help with my coordination problems. But it was more than a required exercise to me. I guess you could say I’ve got a creative gene that craves expression. So after my grandparents died and my father shut the door on my photography dreams, it seemed natural to pour my heart into the theater instead.
Candee: What makes the theater so appealing?
Liz: I got my first taste in college while covering a fall production for the campus newspaper and was hooked by the energy backstage. The actors were having such a great time that it almost seemed they didn’t need an audience. However, once I got personally involved, I fell in love with the drama. The music. The costumes. I loved the virtual trip into another person’s shoes.
Candee: I heard that’s part of the motto for The Wardrobe Dinner Theatre where you perform. To step into another world.
Liz: Exactly. That’s one reason I wanted to audition here. They’re also family-owned and lean toward family-friendly shows. Plus they were about to perform several of my favorite musicals.
Candee: Ooo. Now I’m intrigued. What are your top ten favorite musicals and why?
Liz: 1. 42nd Street and not just because that’s the show I’m in right now. I love the rhythm of dancing feet and the song “Lullaby of Broadway.”
2. White Christmas because it’s a classic.
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers has tons of energy and loads of romance.
4. South Pacific tells two parallel love stories but isn’t afraid to deal with a tough topic like racial prejudice. And there’s great music too.
5. My Fair Lady because of the accents. Plus the transformation from flower girl to Lady.
6. The Sound of Music because it’s another classic with familiar music and romance.
7. Annie because she’s a red-head with spunk. Like me.
8. Annie Get Your Gun because it’s the story of a real sharpshooter with gumption. Plus the song “There’s No Business Like Show Business.”
9. The Unsinkable Molly Brown because it’s a rags-to-riches love story that made surviving the Titanic look easy. And last but not least…
10. Shrek because, well, it’s just plain fun and the kids love it.
Candee: Those all sound like great shows! Thanks for sharing your favorites with us. I’ll let you get back to work, but in the meantime, I’d like to ask the rest of you what musicals you would add to her list?
