my thoughts

If y’all haven’t picked up the Hawthorne House series yet, you really should… unless you’re a historical romance enthusiast, in which case you simply MUST! Posthaste, you need books!

Eldest brother Griffith is an ever-present character throughout the series yet he mostly keeps to the perimeter and rarely has more than a few words to spare. While I admire his practicality and problem-solving prowess, I was especially drawn to the devotion and compassion tucked away behind his stoic façade.

Isabella is eager to do ANYTHING to ease her family’s pressing financial burdens, despite the protests of her conscious. While this distasteful scheme seems harmless enough in her mind, her heart’s involvement complicates matters exponentially. Isabella draws strength from her relationship with her cousin.

Each installment in the Hawthorne House series has its own unique vibe with a comforting mixture of tough topics and humor. The family setting allows readers to be lovingly invested in each character over the course of the series. I highly recommend this entire series which is firmly planted on my all-time favorites shelf and I am eagerly anticipating a new series from this author!
