An Inconvenient Beauty by Kristi Ann Hunter

Fans of Regency romance will love this series conclusion of Hawthorne House! I’m delighted to share my thoughts on An Inconvenient Beauty by Kristi Ann Hunter.

about the book

An Inconvenient Beauty by Kristi Ann Hunter (Hawthorne House book 4)

An Inconvenient Beauty by Kristi Ann HunterGriffith, Duke of Riverton, likes order, logic, and control, so he naturally applies this rational approach to his search for a bride. While he’s certain Miss Frederica St. Claire is the perfect wife for him, she is strangely elusive, and he can’t seem to stop running into her stunningly beautiful cousin, Miss Isabella Breckenridge.

Isabella should be enjoying her society debut, but with her family in difficult circumstances, she has no choice but to agree to a bargain that puts her at odds with all her romantic hopes–as well as her conscience. And the more she comes to know Griffith, the more she regrets the unpleasant obligation that prevents her from any dream of a future with him.

As all Griffith’s and Isabella’s long-held expectations are shaken to the core, can they set aside their pride and fear long enough to claim a happily-ever-after?

my thoughts

If y’all haven’t picked up the Hawthorne House series yet, you really should… unless you’re a historical romance enthusiast, in which case you simply MUST! Posthaste, you need books!

Eldest brother Griffith is an ever-present character throughout the series yet he mostly keeps to the perimeter and rarely has more than a few words to spare. While I admire his practicality and problem-solving prowess, I was especially drawn to the devotion and compassion tucked away behind his stoic façade.

Isabella is eager to do ANYTHING to ease her family’s pressing financial burdens, despite the protests of her conscious. While this distasteful scheme seems harmless enough in her mind, her heart’s involvement complicates matters exponentially. Isabella draws strength from her relationship with her cousin.

Each installment in the Hawthorne House series has its own unique vibe with a comforting mixture of tough topics and humor. The family setting allows readers to be lovingly invested in each character over the course of the series. I highly recommend this entire series which is firmly planted on my all-time favorites shelf and I am eagerly anticipating a new series from this author!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions expressed are my own.
