My Thoughts

Prepare your heartstrings, reader friends, this sweet story will pull them in a beautiful way! Brooklyn Meyers is all too familiar with the feelings of isolation and rejection. Despite the scars left by her past, Brooklyn has pulled herself up by the bootstraps. She is an all-out dedicated and devoted single mom to her daughter Alycia and their mother-daughter relationship is delightfully authentic… complete with the good, the bad, and the eye-rolls!

Derek Johnson is a bit of a small town golden boy and I don’t mean that in a bad way at all but his idyllic childhood has colored his perceptions and he is due for an intimate dose of reality. He’s obviously a natural-born protector, both his position as a deputy and conscientious farmer attest to that fact. Derek also gets triple brownie points for his strong relationship with his Gran Ruth. Getting Gran’s perspective on all the happenings is icing on the cake.

From the tight-knit community that draws folks in, to the adorable little fru-fru rescue dog, this story is full of sweet moments and healing from heartache. Faith, family, and community are just what the doctor ordered (according to Gran and no one argues with Gran).
