Hi, reader friends! It’s my great pleasure to welcome you to another author spotlight! Today’s author is one of my favorite people to interact with on Facebook Live. She is sharing some of her favorite books, latest news, and a fabulous giveaway with us! I actually wish I could enter this giveaway but since I’m the blogger and can’t… I’m really excited for y’all!

About the Author

Jaime Jo Wright Professional coffee drinker & ECPA/Publisher’s Weekly best-selling author, Jaime Jo Wright resides in the hills of Wisconsin writing spirited romantic suspense stained with the shadows of history. Coffee fuels her snarky personality.

She lives in Neverland with her Cap’n Hook who stole her heart and will not give it back, their little fairy Tinkerbell, and a very mischievous Peter Pan. The foursome embark on scores of adventure that only make her fall more wildly in love with romance and intrigue.

Five Favorite Books… in the last six months

Jaime: I will admit, I’ve been hard pressed to read this year because of deadlines for books I’m writing. HOWEVER! I’ve MADE TIME! Because it’s necessary to my survival.

So my 5 favorite novels of the last 6 months in no specific order are:

Beyond Justice by Cara Putman – this one is a legal thriller in the nature of a John Grisham novel. Only, I love Cara’s writings and how she interweaves in law, politics, romance, and subtle spiritual undertones.

She doesn’t shy away from gritty storytelling, but she doesn’t cross the line either. It was a hard-to-put-down novel, and I’m anxiously awaiting book 2!

Beth: This is very near the top of my tbr!

Jaime:  Sarah’s Key by Tatiana De Rosnay – Man. Talk about a novel that will send you home to hold your children! This one, published by the general market in France, takes you deep into a dual-time story from the perspective of a young Jewish girl in the French round-up during the Nazi regime, to the present day perspective of an American journalist living in France.

To read it simply as a book on the Holocaust, is to miss much of the underlying literary theme of family, journey, tragedy, and how a person approaches life when it spirals into complete chaos. It’s a novel thick with emotion, not for the faint of heart, but worth the read. (Disclaimer: some language)

Jaime:  The Mark of the King by Jocelyn Green – As you can tell, my reading spans multiple genres! LOL!

This novel takes me to early New Orleans in the 18th Century. Its story is thick with history, details, and Jocelyn does an astounding job of including all five senses and making her story come alive. It was virtually impossible to put down (I read it in a day!).

There is romance, sure, but the lives of the characters are what sucked me in. So much more than a simple romance. It captures the essence of early America, of the French influence, of the stress on the native population, and the tensions that arose from just simply being in existence.

Beth: I love variety and I ADORE this book!!! ???? my review pssst… btw #dealalert

Moonlight Becomes You by Mary Higgins ClarkJaime:  Moonlight Becomes You by Mary Higgins Clark – What’s a winter without a read from the classic Clark library? I love her writing. It’s mystery and suspense to perfection.

This novel, in particular, was very intriguing to me as it referenced the old tradition of placing bells over the dead’s grave in the event they were “accidentally” buried alive. (Long story, read the book ????).

Beth: *shudders* ooooo, that gives me the hibbity jibbities!!!

Jaime:  My Heart Belongs In Fort Bliss, Texas by Erica Vetsch – Erica is my go-to when I need a traditional historical romance with comedic elements, warm fuzzies, good message, and down-home-writing.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel as it took its heroine into Texas, met her up with the fort’s doctor, and introduced me to precocious twins. This novel envelopes a true historical romance for me. It just let me with a happy feel-good, wrap myself up in a quilt with a cup of coffee, feeling.

Books

Jaime: My latest release is coming in about two months! Of Rags and Riches Romance Collection, from Barbour Publishing, features my third novella with them. Set in northern Wisconsin, my heroine is a fly-fishing guide during the days when the wealthy tried to be hardy and play in the out-of-doors for recreation. ???? She must guide a philandering brewing heir from Milwaukee as he attempts to hook more than himself. It was a fun novella to write, and I’m anxious for all of you to meet Abby and Charles.

The House on Foster Hill by Jaime Jo WrightJaime: I’m currently finishing up edits for The House On Foster Hill, due out in December from Bethany House Publishing. It’s a dual time story set in 1906 and Present day, with a mystery that connects two heroines over a century apart.

I’m also finishing up my main draft for the second novel coming out from Bethany House Publishing in 2018 (title TBD).

  1. That’s a hard question! I’ve loved so many of them. I recently read Life After by Katie Ganshert. It was amazing. I also enjoyed The Memory of You by Catherine West and Just the Way You Are by Pepper Basham. I’m going to stop there, because there have been so many good books that I don’t want to leave anyone out of my list. So many books, so little time! 😀

  3. Ok guess my answer is a cheat is a small way but it is bound all in one book. 🙂 I’d have to say the The Half-Stitched Amish Quilting Club Trilogy by Wanda E. Brunstetter would have to be right up there at the top of my list.

  8. Ooh…favorite book in the past six months? I’ve had a lot of favorites, actually. Though I really, really liked “Grace and the Preacher” by Kim Vogel Sawyer. 😉

  17. I just finished reading The Message in a Bottle Romance Collection. It was excellent! I loved how all the stories had a common thread. And the authors…some of my favorites!!

  18. I think one that Jaime mentioned, The Mark of the King, would be my favorite from the past six months. I also really enjoyed the first two Belle Meade novels from Tamera Alexander!

  19. I’ve read so many in the past six months! Hard choice. It’s always the last one that I read that’s my favorite, LOL. I’m almost through with Weaver’s Needle by Robin Caroll. So good about the Dutchmans Lost Gold Mine map.
    The Nightingale intrigued me mainly because it involved WWII and the German occupation of France. My FIL recently passed and he was in that area during the war.

  21. I have read way too at books in the last six months to really choose a favorite. But the one that has stuck with me the longest is “Life After” by Katie Ganshert. It is something completely out of the ordinary that I usually read, but I really liked it-a lot.

  24. Oh my! That’s a hard question. I know one of my favorite is “In His Eyes” by Stephenia H McGee ( I read an early copy) & Life After” by Katie Ganshert. I also think I have to name “Home” by Ginny Yttrup

  26. It’s hard for me too! Every book I read seems to be my favorite! I’ve read several delicious Taming books by Tammy Andresen, River’s End Ranch & Grandma’s Quilt series, and assorted others. I think my favorite was Starlight Inn by Lucie Ulrich.

  27. Impossible, even if restraining to the last 6 months. I read too many books and several favorite authors have released in the past 6. How about for this week? That narrows it down to about three. That would be what I’m currently reading, Sprout of Love by Valerie Comer.

  29. Oh my I have to many! But I did thoroughly enjoy reading Cold Shot by Dani Pettrey. I could compile a serious list for six months of reading!
