Mowed Over by Christina Coryell

With the magnifying glass dangling from the contraption atop her head, Willow Sharpe barely touched the tip of her toothpick into the black ink and made one more slight adjustment to the book that measured only an inch in height. It might be miniscule, but the camera’s close-up lens wasn’t forgiving.

A Heart Restored by Elizabeth Maddrey

“You did what?” Deidre McIntyre held the phone away from her ear as her best friend, Lisette, screeched.

A (nearly) Normal Nanny by Krista Phillips

“… eighteen-one-thousand, nineteen-one-thousand, twenty-one-thousand! Ready or not, here I come!” Mari Jenkins bit her lip to keep from laughing as she stood from her employer’s leather couch and propped her hands on her hips.

A Time to Laugh by Marion Ueckermann

Arms still extended on the Vortex Spin Bike’s handles, Elizabeth Dunham sat back down on the narrow seat. She leaned forward and rested her sweaty, silvery head on the bar between her arms.

  1. Anna’s Crossing
    by Suzanne Woods Fisher

    And the fist line is…

“It’s a hard crossing, they’d been warned. Eight weeks in a wooden tub with no guarantee they’d ever get there.”

    Happy reading and happy Friday!

  2. I LOVED reading the ARC copy of Love At First Laugh! And Marion Ueckermann had me laughing all the way through! My first line is: “Preston Tyler lowered his feet from the deck railing & leaned forward as his gaze followed the Jeep pulling up next to the Fontaines’ cabin across the lake.” From Presumed Dead by Angela Ruth Strong

  3. “Flames lapped at the monk’s robes.” Prologue to The Message in a Bottle by Joanne Bischof, Amanda Dykes, Heather Day Gilbert, Jocelyn Green, and Maureen Lang

I haven’t started this yet, but the book is so attractive with deckled edges on the pages.

I’m going to include my first line from ‘The Illusionist’s Apprentice’ by Kristy Cambron, because I just finished it last night and it was amaaaaaaaazing! You really need to read it!

“Agent Elliot Matthews stared down a firing squad.”

  5. The sparks danced like fireflies in the semidarkness of the storeroom. ~ prologue to A Harvest of Thorns by Corban Addison

The Fiction Guild sent me this one for review, I’m just a bit in to the first chapter and not yet sure it’s my cup of tea…
