I’m going to post the first line of the Audio book I just finished listening to: “Brithwin gazed at her father’s grey, lifeless face as she crossed the room.” From The Sword of Forgiveness by Debbie Lynn Costello and narrated by Anne Flosnik, who did a MARVELOUS job!!!

I’m trying to do the audio book thing but I’m still not sold. I’m going to make note of that narrator though, I’ve heard the voice makes all the difference!

Yes they are! I want them for my shelf but alas, the book budget bleeds. What would I do without the library? *shudders* Let’s not think such gloomy thoughts!

What a beautiful cover! I’ll ahve to add this one to my TBR pile also! Do I need to start with book one?
Now, as to your challenge … what if the book nearest me is a thesaurus? This could be interesting … If the preface counts as the first page: American thesauruses generally fall into two categories; the voluminous, subject-index variety and the brief, alphabetically arranged dictionary-style book.
If the actual entries are considered the first page (which might be more fun): abandon v. desert, forsake, leave, quit, discontinue, desolate, drop, repudiate, reject, renounce … (and on, and on 😉 )
An interesting thought just hit me, though–it almost seems fitting that desert means a dry, arid (and really harsh) environment and to be abandoned.
